Majlis: The Yurt Mine Faced Disaster in Northern Iran, Managed by the Iranian Mehr Fund

INU - The Parliament of Iran on Wednesday, June 7 in a report on the incident of Yurt mine stated that the Iranian Mehr Fund affiliated with Basij is the director of this mine and a security agency owns its major shares.

According to the reports, the director of Yurt Mine was also the chief technical officer of the mine. Therefore, the inefficiency of authority caused technical and safety notes.

The Yurt Mine (located in Azadshar, Golestan Province) exploded on Wednesday, May 3 and by that, 43 mineworkers were killed. Following this incidents, some presidential candidates took advantage of the situation to collect votes in their favor during the clashes. For instance, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf dedicated parts of its promotional videos to the issue of the mine explosion.

Meanwhile, Hassan Rouhani in his promotional trips implicitly slammed the IRGC authorities while stating that they did not visit the mine after the explosion.

Azadshahr Mine exploded because the safety equipment and suitable mechanism lacked and there was not enough space for the escape of coal gas.

In recent years, a group of miners were also killed and injured at work.
