Iran Government’s Delay In Public Vaccination Tantamount to a Crime

The number of Iranian cities in the coronavirus red situation tripled in one day

Iran’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei and its president Hassan Rouhani are watching the people’s death by the coronavirus. The situation is so severe that even now some of the officials in the country are protesting and warning the regime over its ignorance.

On April 14, the head of Mashhad’s Medical System Organization said: “There is no other way than to close the cities and vaccination to prevent high mortality and a human catastrophe that occurs due to coronavirus.”

Dr. Birjandinejad, comparing the high mortality rate in Iran with the global statistics, said that “even a day of delay in public and widespread vaccination is unacceptable.”

He said, “that if the health ministry during Nowruz could not effectively enter for any reason, it should not let the situation to become out of control, and everyone from the (health) minister to the Department of Health are expecting the preparation of the Vaccine, Vaccine, Vaccine.”

About the hospitals’ situation, he called them unbelievable and said: “In many hospitals, the acceptance capacity is filled, and the continuation of this process will result the lack of beds for hospitalization.”

Referring to the official’s claims that the people are responsible for this situation, he said: “Spending from people’s pocket and charging them is also becoming the most convenient route for some. One day the Nowruz trips and other days chicken queues are charged.”

He added: “Some are speaking very easy about the death rate reaching 1000 and 1500 per day. How can a country that faces a crisis in population and its birth rate last year was unbelievably low ignore so easily the loss of its human capital and labor power? Today the vaccine is important. If the home-made vaccine is not ready, we should not wait.”

In another event, the death rate in Tehran according of official statistics has now reached the three digits line. Saeed Khal, director of Behesht Zahra cemetery said: “The coronavirus takes 100 victims per day in Tehran. While this number of single digit and just 9 deaths before the Nowruz.”

It should be noted that on March 16 he said: “Before the coronavirus on average 200 hundred bodies were accepted in Behesht Zara daily, but after one year passing from the coronavirus outbreak, the death rate has reached 400 daily, which was unheard of in the last 50 years. More than 40 percent of the people who died because of the coronavirus have been accepted by the Behesht Zahra cemetery.” (State-run daily Entekhab, March 16, 2021)

Despite benefiting from the coronavirus outbreak and using it as a weapon to repress the people’s protests, the situation is becoming so bad that Khamenei who is the main actor of this policy by preventing the import of foreign vaccines was forced to warn about this situation.

As he said: “The number of the infected has increased. These are subjects that we cannot ignore so easily. These shocking and bitter statistics must alert all the officials and people, we should pay attention and not make any jokes.”

“The officials should act seriously. So, limitations that the medical specialist and officials of the healthcare are setting up, must be act in that way, and any consequences (because of these limitations) its bitterness is less than the ??? of this illness.” (State TV Channel One, April 14, 2021)
