On December 7, the Iranian regime’s president Ebrahim Raisi went to the Sharif University of Technology on Iran’s Student Day, to speak clearly and transparently with students as he claimed. However, the students’ criticism which simulated a wrecking house on his head forced him to forget his clarity and transparency.
Below is the speech of the Secretary of the Islamic Students Association of the Sharif University of Technology which is evidence of the country’s situation.
“Before entering the main part of my speech, I consider it necessary to make a point as an introduction to your Excellency.
“Mr. Raisi, we are not considering you as a president derived from the votes of the people on the ground of a free election, but we are speaking to you as the representative of the ruling system. A rule that despite its revolutionary, free, and justice ideals over the past 40 years, not only did not create a path of progression for the people…
“but has pulled Iran and the people and even itself into many kinds of crises and super crises and only in short periods it has seen the color of stability and peace.
“Mr. Raisi, I ask you that any time you decide to impose any policy on the people and speak on behalf of them,
“remember that you are the outcome of the most unfair election in the history of the Islamic Republic with the lowest participation. An election that itself was the result of a defunct and inefficient structure, that has caused despair for the people about any change in the policymaking of Iran.
“The Guardian Council as the totalitarian political guardian, with the repression of any election and the democratic will of the people over these years, has pulled the country into a position so that to justify the low political participation, all kinds of justifications must be used to cover up the problems.
“The Guardian Council is not the only defunct structure. Structures that are based on undemocratic politics on the country’s governance are creating day by day inefficiency so that we must forget each crisis because of the arrival of a new crisis.
“Now the rule has become unified, today the government is in your hands (the regime’s principlists) too.
“And you have gifted any part of it to some corrupt and inefficient gangs. Today from Mohsen Rezaee to Ghazizadeh Hashemi and Rostam Ghasemi and general Vahidi, all of them have taken part in the power. Today you have created the most security-orientated cabinet of the Islamic Republic with…
“the appointment of the IRGC generals in every position of the government. Now the question is that in this completely unified government, where is that anti-corruption that you have promised? What happened to the removal of the class gap and fighting injustice that you have promised? What happened to the welfare and providing the minimum livelihood of the people?
“What happened to the freedom and the insurance of the rights of all people, women, and girls? What happened to the promise of the lifting of all sanctions? What happened to the glory that you have promised?
“Mr. Raisi, please remind your friends, that there is no glory and respect in that what you are imposing on the people, from the zero percent growth rate, political isolation, lack of transparency, and any other exorbitant prices.
“Gifting of the nation’s property to a corrupt military-political oligarchy in the form of rent-seeking privatizations, systematic corruption, unbridled militarism, extreme economic poverty, a staggering class gap, social disintegration, international sanctions, issues, and major environmental problems, …
“is forcing its expenses more than before on the people who have lost their patience. And people who are angry about rent-seeking, corruption, inefficiency, and imprudence and while protesting are getting no response other than hollow promises of the creation of million jobs or the construction of one million housings in one year and other hollow illusions about the improvement of the economy.
“Otherwise, in these years, the official and routine response has been nothing but repression, detention, batons, tears gas, bullets, and pellets. The subjects of these days are not the production of one day, one year, or eight years. Would you like to give you an example of these policy-makings?
“Your first deputy, by giving hollow and baseless promises about the mass production of the vaccine until the due date, has profited from the lives of the people. Instead of being brought to justice and being held responsible for such a crime, he has been appointed to the economic command of the cabinet.
“In a situation where civil society is facing severe repression and civil society, …
“political and social activists are in the corridors of the judiciary under numerous pretexts, that place you headed until a few months ago.
“How can we expect people’s words to be heard by the rule, you tell us in such circumstances, what other way is in front of the people, except falling into the ominous abyss of violence?
“How do we expect to hear the nation’s message except with clenched fists when we have blocked all breathing routes on society? Mr. Raisi, I’m sure you are informed about the bloodstream that flowed in November 2019, as you are aware of the suppression of the thirsty people of Khuzestan and Isfahan.
“You tell us, the fierce repression of the protests, does it mean anything other than that the government has not only lost its ability to discuss with the people but has accepted that it must secure itself with the force of bullets. You that you are worried about dignity, you that you are worried about our civil rights, you that you are concerned about the brain drain, you that you are chanting the slogan of experts, …
“are you informed about the summonses, detentions, and framings for students and academics? Do you know that for more than two years, our two academics, Ali Younesi and Amir Hossein Moradi, remain in prison? Do you know that the courts during your presidency over the judiciary, …
“instead of a transparent, open, swift, decisive and explicit trial of the main perpetrators of the crime of the downing of the Ukrainian airliner with a military missile, the judiciary filed a lawsuit against the students for protesting the crime? Did you know that many students are still involved in cases…
“that were filed under the pretext of legal student activity in the form of licensed student institutions or under the pretext of peaceful student protests in January 2017 and November 2019? Are you aware of baseless framings for professors and researchers in the country? Are you aware of the growing number of elites escaping in the last few months?
“But the last word, Mr. Raisi, as we said at the beginning, we consider you a representative of the government and we need to give you this warning!
“If you do not offer an experienced and efficient rational solution to get rid of the current crisis, you will receive a response from the public that may be neither quick nor even urgent, but it will be surely revolutionary and decisive.”
