Iran’s schools, which reopened on September 5, 2020, began on this date with the goal that perhaps teachers would be able to compensate the time of the lost education that was stopped because of the coronavirus outbreak.
With the outbreak of the pandemic until the government launched the online Shad Network, the Ministry of Education sought a solution to compensate the teaching hours so that education would not be shut down, and the first solution was to continue education through the State TV, which was broadcasted on two networks, the Fourth and the Education channels, which were mostly useful for elementary students.
With the rapid increase of the coronavirus infection in the country, despite the start of the educational Shad Network, but there are still many children who still do not have the chance to use this app because of poverty and the lack of a smartphone, tablet, and internet connection.
The question is which ministry and institution in this regime is responsible for the absence of so many students from the schools. The truth is that in this regime none of its organizations and ministries are accountable for such a huge loss. They do not care about the future of these children.
With shortcomings in the field of education, the country will face huge problems in the future, such as rising illiteracy in the 21st century, while the government and education officials claim to have designed the best and most perfect program and made it available to all students.
Shad National Network may have done its job well as a platform. But what did education officials, the government, members of parliament and other seemingly sympathetic officials do for Iran’s 3.5 million students?
At every stage, the Shad Network has tried to speed up the Internet, and in the new versions, to provide special facilities with easy access for teachers and students.
But the country is still a long away from the desired point of educational justice, where 3.5 million students do not yet have access to the ‘Shad’ application. These 3.5 million children either live in a place where there is no internet or do not have the required tablet or phone.
The point here is that now, even if the coronavirus sees its end, students who have lost the opportunity to study no longer have the opportunity to reach other students, and they will be dropped out from the educational and life cycle, because the opportunity to reverse everything is not available and is impossible.
Beyond that, the government should answer this question, what happens to educational justice. And how will it be implemented?
Different statistics are heard from the authorities about the presence of students in the Shad Network, which is showing that the government does not care about the students’ education like any other topic of the people at all.
