Iran: Who Is Mohammad Hossein-Zadeh Hejazi

Hejazi became a member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in May 1979. He served as the intelligence and security advisor to the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Ismail Qaani was appointed as the successor to Qassem Soleimani as the Iranian Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Quds Force Commander, after Soleimani was killed near Baghdad Airport on 3 January 2020. After two weeks, Mohammad Hejazi was appointed as Qaani 's successor and deputy commander of the Quds Force.

The deputy chief of the Iran-backed Hashd al-Shaabi (PMF) militia in Iraq, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, was killed alongside Iranian Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Quds Force chief Qasem Soleimani in a US airstrike in Baghdad in the early hours of January 3.
