As Iran continues to face escalating, simultaneous pressures from domestic unrest and foreign sanctions, evidence continues to accumulate which shows the regime’s inconsistent and often contradictory approaches to international relations. This phenomenon was arguably on display at the beginning of the week when Iranian-European talks on civil nuclear cooperation gave rise to Iranian outreach alongside Iranian threats and ultimatums.

MEPs condemn Iran for human rights abuses

INU - In a joint statement, 150 Members of the European Parliament have condemned the Iranian Regime for its domestic human rights abuses and its terrorist plots in Europe.

The signatories, which come from all six of the major political groups in the Parliament and represent 27 EU Member States, expressed concern at the deteriorating situation of human rights in Iran, particularly in relation to women’s rights and the ongoing executions in the country.

The Iranian Regime used these accounts to spread narratives that supported the mullahs’ agenda while tricking followers into thinking that they were reading the views of their fellow citizens, rather than the propaganda machine of a rogue state.
