Tehran Publicly Threatens US with Lawsuit, but Downplays Threats of Terrorism

On Monday, the Islamic Republic of Iran announced its intentions to file suit against the United States over what it says are illegal sanctions that have contributed to the country’s runaway inflation and other deteriorating economic indicators. The initial legal action will be taken within Iran’s domestic courts and as such will be an almost entirely symbolic gesture targeting “those in America who designed and imposed sanctions on Iran.” But President Hassan Rouhani indicated that the domestic lawsuit is meant to serve as a precursor to a challenge in international court.

Iranian President’s Iraq Trip Signifies Broader Imperial Goals

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani concluded his three-day visit to neighboring Iraq on Wednesday. The trip appeared to highlight the escalating tensions between Iran and the United States, in which Iraq is a significant battleground on account of its simultaneous dependence on support from both of the feuding countries. This was particularly evident in view of some of Rouhani’s public commentary while meeting with Iraqi officials.

Iran regime’s regional ambitions pose threat to entire region

INU- The Iranian regime has some very destructive plans for the Middle East. It is still working on its goal of creating an Iran regime-controlled corridor the whole way across the region and it is planning to exert control over Shiite militias and paramilitaries in Iraq and Syria. Iran will also be using its ties with Hezbollah in Lebanon to advance on its plans.

To Justify Militarism, Iran Criticizes Adversaries’ Latent Nuclear Plans

On Wednesday, Ali Shamkhani, the secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, issued vague warnings about “suspicious nuclear projects” that Tehran’s regional adversaries had supposedly invested in. Shamkhani did not describe these projects or identify any countries by name, but the relevant statement appeared to come in response to previous disclosures about a Trump administration plan to transfer American nuclear energy technology to Saudi Arabia.
