Iran dispatches IRGC to Iraq

According to the Wall Street Journal, Iran has already dispatched at least three battalions of the Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Quds Force to Iraq, as uprisings by various groups rocked the country and threatened Nouri al-Maliki’s hold on power. This in turn has threatened the Shiite dominance and close Iranian alliance that Maliki engendered for Iraq.

IRGC Commander Killed in Syria

One obvious example of Iranian intervention in foreign affairs, and of the regime’s duplicity about it, is the Syrian Civil War. International organizations and national governments alike have assembled considerable evidence that aside from sending great quantities of weapons and military equipment to the Assad regime, Iran is also recruiting and transporting fighters to contribute to the war effort on Assad’s behalf.

Khamenei Criticizes Western-Muslim Divide While Helping to Create It

Speaking to a gathering of Iranian officials and ambassadors from other Islamic nations, Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei accused the West of spreading fear of Islam and fostering sectarian conflict as part of a conspiracy to suppress the Muslim world. In turn, Khamenei called for Muslim unity in opposition to the United States, Europe, and other non-Muslim foreign powers.
