Mehr news agency quoted sources close to Hamas that there are deliberations about Mashal residing in Iran. Mashal, who was residing in Damascus prior to the Syrian crisis, moved to Doha, the capital of Qater, at the onset of the civil war in Syria.
The reason for Mashal’s visit is to mend relations between Tehran and Hamas. Ali Larijani, Speaker of the Islamic Republic Parliament, has recently stated that Tehran will resume its support for the Hamas movement that controls the Gaza Strip.
Mahmoud al-Zahar, a prominent Hamas leader, had previously announced that Iran resumed its support of the Hamas.
On March 5th, 2014, a ship carrying Iranian weapons and flying a Panamanian flag was held up in the Red Sea. This ship was carrying missiles to Gaza Strip to be delivered to Hamas. Iranian leaders have time and again declared their support for the Hamas Movement.
