British FCO condemns deadly Liberty attack

INU -Britain’s Foreign Office Minister Alistair Burt has condemned the latest deadly missile attack on Camp Liberty and called on the Government of Iraq to bring those responsible to justice.

Mr Burt, FCO Minister for Middle East and North Africa, Alistair Burt, said: “I strongly condemn the attack on Camp Liberty that took place in Iraq yesterday. The British Government calls on the Government of Iraq to fully investigate the attack and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.

“We also call on the Iraqi Government to do all that they can to ensure the security and safety of the residents of Camp Liberty.”

The statement comes after the British Parliamentary Committee for Iran Freedom also condemned the Saturday attack which left two dead and at least 50 injured, and blamed Iran for plotting it.

Iranian Resistance president-elect Maryam Rajavi has written to US Secretary of State John Kerry, the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon and the High Commissioner for Refugees calling for immediate action to return the residents to Ashraf.

She added: “The Iranian regime and the Government of Iraq are determined to carry out the total massacre of the refugees and asylum seekers.”
