The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) reported on August 17 that the next Foreign Minister in the mullah’s regime, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, is likely to make terrorism a key ideology of Iran’s diplomacy.
According to the Fars News Agency, the news outlet run by the Iranian regime’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC), Hossein Amir Abdollahian, who is nominated to become Ebrahim Raisi’s top diplomat, told the members of the Majlis (parliament) that he will ‘continue the path’ of Qassem Soleimani in his foreign policy.
A former commander of the Quds Force, an international branch of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Qassem Soleimani was put in charge of terrorist activities abroad on behalf of the regime. He had control over terrorist groups in the Middle East and was designated as a terrorist by the United States for his role in supporting terrorist groups, as well as conducting attacks on American forces in Iraq. On a secret trip to Iraq in January 2020, he was killed in a drone strike.
The MEK said, “Abdollahian made those remarks in a meeting between members of the Majlis culture commission and nominees for the foreign, interior, and health ministries. In the meeting, Amir Abdollahian said that a lot of his experience was during the time that he ‘cooperated with Soleimani in the foreign policy domain’ and he promised to ‘continue Soleimani’s path’.”
They explained that Soleimani played a large part in controlling the regime’s foreign policy and that many people who reported to him, such as senior diplomats and embassy staff, were also members of the Quds Force. One such person who was in regular contact with Soleimani was the Vienna-based diplomat, Assadollah Assadi, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison earlier this year for his part in the failed bomb attempt at the Iranian resistance’s rally in France 3 years ago.
The Foreign Minister under Hassan Rouhani, the former President of the mullahs’ regime, Mohammad Javad Zarif acknowledged in a recent interview that the Revolutionary Guards heavily dominate the regime’s policies, especially their foreign policy, which has resulted in the spate of terrorist crimes, not only just in countries in the Middle East region, but across the world.
The MEK said, “Zarif said that 98 percent of the regime’s diplomacy achievements, especially in the Middle East region, were accomplished by the Quds Force and especially Soleimani.”
Rouhani spoke out at a cabinet meeting earlier this year in April saying that from his tenure in the Supreme National Security Council spanning 32 years, he can confirm that the entire regime is united in its criminal nature and activities. He said that ‘the frontline and diplomacy are two arms’ of the mullahs’ clerical regime.
The MEK said, “Abdollahian previously served as the Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs under Zarif and had a very close relationship with Soleimani. While Amir Abdollahian’s comments come as no surprise, they are a reminder that terrorism and violence is a key pillar of the regime’s diplomacy.”
