Maryam Rajavi on Iran Regime’s Terrorism: Part 1

The third session of the 2020 Free Iran Global Summit was focused on tackling the Iranian regime’s terrorism, for which the summit participants advocated closing Iranian embassies and expelling Iranian agents.

In this short series, we will look at the speech given by Iranian opposition leader Maryam Rajavi about Iranian Regime terrorism that has primarily targeted the Iranian people and their resistance. This part will focus on her comments about how terrorism is intrinsic to the regime and begin a brief history of the regime’s terrorism.

Maryam Rajavi explained that the Iranian regime is the central banker of terrorism today, because it carries out “suppression, executions and massacres” domestically, as well as increasing regional conflict and pursuing nuclear weapons.

She said: “Terrorism is the essence and fundamental nature of this regime and it is inseparable from it. You may be surprised to hear that within the regime’s judiciary, whose henchmen amputate limbs and stone people as punishment, there is a secretary of a council for human rights. His name is Javad Larijani and is one of the oldest theoreticians of the mullahs’ terrorism. His older brother was the former speaker of parliament, and his other brother, Sadeq Larijani, was the head of the judiciary.”

Maryam Rajavi went on to say that in 1994, on the anniversary of the fatwa issued against Salman Rushdi, Javad Larijani created a state-sponsored terrorism plan that included more orders to kill foreign citizens and more hostage-taking, in order to show the political power of the regime. This shows where terrorist operations start.

She then went on to talk about the over 450 terrorist acts outside of Iran, ordered by the regime, since 2001. She said that this includes 150 cases inside Iraq against the Iranian resistance, including but not limited to:

• roadside bombs targeting buses
• trucks full of explosives driven at the Resistance’s camp
• firing RPG-18s into the homes of mothers of Resistance members in Iraq

Maryam Rajavi then speaks about how the regime has assassinated members of the Iranian resistance in the Middle East and Europe, which are acts of terrorism.

Of course, not all of the regime’s terrorism is against Iranians. Maryam Rajavi cited many examples of regime terrorist, including:

• the hostage-taking and the murder of foreign nationals
• the 1982 Beirut bombings that killed 300 people
• the 1986 bombings in Paris
• the 1987 killing of Haj pilgrims in Mecca
• the 1994 bombing of a Jewish community center in Argentina that killed 88 and injured 151
• the 1996 Khobar Tower bombing that killed 19
• the wounding of 500 American service members in Iraq and much more

Maryam Rajavi said: “After the 2003 Iraq War and the hidden occupation of that country by the mullahs, the era of the regime’s mega-terrorism began. The mullahs’ record has been horrendous in Afghanistan, Yemen, Lebanon, and, more than every other place, in Syria and Iraq.”
