Although they would normally be considered Sunni and Shiite enemies, they were able to put their differences aside in favour of their joint hatred of the United States.

The documents released by the CIA include computer files and images and they were seized during the raid in Pakistan that killed leader Osama bin Laden in May 2011.

On Tuesday this week, the United States Treasury Department put in place CAATSA – the Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act. These will be the toughest sanctions that have ever been applied to Iran and it particularly targets the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) including its commanders and affiliates.

The IRGC is instrumental in the regime’s oppressive domestic policies and is responsible for plundering the wealth of the nation. It is also involved in the spread of terrorism and plays a large role in Iran’s ballistic missile and nuclear programs.

More than 40% of the country’s economy is controlled by the IRGC via a vast and complicated network of companies.

Iran is already worried about the CAATSA, and it is right to be further concerned about the push being made by over a dozen senators in the US. They are urging the US Mission to the United Nations to enforce more thorough and rigorous inspections with regards to the Iran nuclear deal. They want Iran’s military sites to be inspected, despite the regime’s refusal. They also want to make sure that all the loopholes in the agreement are tightened because the Iranian regime is currently exploiting them.

It is surely common sense that nuclear inspectors access military sites in the country, and Iran’s refusal is raising suspicions about whether it is conducting illegal activities there.

This is one of the many problems with the nuclear agreement. The UN’s nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which is in charge of verifying the nuclear deal, has been denied access or made to wait 54 days before gaining access. These 54 days are more than enough for Iran to get rid of all evidence regarding banned activities.

The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) is a coalition of Iranian opposition groups and it has been instrumental in exposing the Iranian regime’s nuclear program. It all started in August 2002 when it exposed the uranium enrichment site in Natanz and the heavy water production plant in Arak.

Since then it has continued to provide evidence about more and more of Iran’s nuclear program and its clandestine and complex network of military sites.

It goes without saying that the NCRI could be a very valuable resource in helping the United States, and the international community as a whole, figure out how to put an end to Iran’s nuclear ambitions once and for all.

It must also be noted that the NCRI is the representative of the people of Iran who want a peaceful, free and democratic Iran. No one has worked harder for the people of Iran than the main opposition.
