US sanctions on Iran may well bring regime change

There were more than enough reasons for the US to reimpose sanctions on Iran from its destructive behaviour in the Middle East to its use of ballistic missiles to its use of terrorism, assassinations, and cyber warfare to attack foreign nations. This sort of behaviour must be confronted and contained, lest it leads to chaos in the Middle East and across the world.

Many support the sanctions
This has the support of many US allies, including Israel and Saudi Arabia, who are in the direct path of Iran’s rage, but more importantly it has the support of the longest-suffering victims of the Iranian Regime: The Iranian people.

No one should be swayed by the Iranian Regime’s lies that these sanctions are mostly hurting the Iranian people. In fact, the Iranian people are in favour of the sanctions, as they cut off the money that the Iranian Regime uses to repress the Iranian people.
How the US will deal with disagreements on the Iran sanctions

While different countries may disagree on how best to confront the Regime in Iran, it is important to support Trump’s “maximum pressure” push against Iran, as it is the best chance to stop the mullahs before they create a nuclear bomb or increase the conflict in Syria.
Luckily, with secondary sanctions applied to al foreign companies and countries that help Iran violate the sanctions, it doesn’t matter whether a country disagrees, they will still have to abide by the sanctions or face being cut off from the US financial system and it’s pretty obvious what path they’ll take.

Dr. Theodore Karasik, a senior adviser to Gulf State Analytics in Washington, DC, wrote: “In the coming months and into next year, the pressure on Iran will continue to draw reactions of various types, including hand-wringing over images and terrified voices that will be projected by the Iranian media.

While some may argue that the Tehran government may actually benefit from an excuse to “crack heads” and reorganize the political field, the systemic problems in the theocratic state signal real and significant pressure from the US upon the Islamic Republic.

Next year’s 40th anniversary of the start of the 1979 hostage crisis may be quite telling in terms of the metrics of success of the Trump administration’s second round of crippling sanctions.”
