Manouchehr Fallah, a political prisoner in Lakan Prison in Rasht, published a letter dated June 21 to protest the indefinite status of his case and announced that he would begin a hunger strike on July 22. He commenced his strike on Monday morning. Manouchehr Fallah is incarcerated in Mithaq Prison, a section of Lakan Prison in Rasht.

Born in 1990 in Rasht, Manouchehr Fallah has one child. He was arrested on June 17, 2023, and transferred to Lakan Prison in Rasht. Despite the provision of bail, the Gilan prosecutor, Mehdi Falah Miri, prevented his temporary release after the interrogation period ended. Manouchehr Fallah previously went on a hunger strike in September 2023 to protest his prolonged and indefinite detention.

This political prisoner has been sentenced to 22 months and 17 days in prison by Branch 3 of the Rasht Revolutionary Court, headed by Mehdi Rasekhi, on charges of insulting Khamenei and propagandizing against the regime. However, another case has been opened against him, which remains pending in the Gilan Criminal Court despite his year-long detention.
