From Tehran and Shiraz to Zahedan, Chabahar, Mashhad, and other cities, PMOI Resistance Units carried out a coordinated wave of actions targeting symbols and institutions of Iran’s regime in response to the execution of Alireza Sepahi and Alireza Raisi.
The executions of Alireza Sepahi and Alireza Raisi, two young prisoners of the January uprising, have been met with a new wave of defiant actions by PMOI Resistance Units across Iran. In cities spanning the country, Resistance Units carried out a series of coordinated operations targeting regime propaganda symbols and institutions associated with repression and intelligence activities.
The actions, reported across 20 locations, demonstrate the continuing determination of Resistance Units to challenge the regime’s machinery of repression and keep the executions of political prisoners from passing without a response.
Resistance Units target regime symbols across Iran
In Tehran, a billboard depicting regime leader Ali Khamenei was set on fire. Similar actions targeted Khamenei’s banners in Shahriar and Andisheh, while another Resistance action in Shahriar targeted a sign identifying an intelligence and surveillance center associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
In Isfahan, Resistance Units set fire to Khamenei banners at two locations while raising slogans including “Death to the principle of velayat-e faqih” and “Long live the Liberation Army.”
In Mashhad, posters depicting Mojtaba Khamenei were set on fire at two locations. Other actions targeting images and banners of the regime’s leaders were reported in Sari, Birjand, Sabzevar, Nikshahr, Sarbaz, and other cities.
In Sari, banners depicting Ruhollah Khomeini and Ali Khamenei were targeted. In Birjand, Resistance Units targeted banners depicting Khamenei and Mojtaba Khamenei.
In Zahedan, a sign identifying a Basij-IRGC facility was set on fire. In Nikshahr, banners depicting Khomeini, Khamenei, and Mojtaba Khamenei were targeted.
Sabzevar saw separate actions against banners depicting Mojtaba Khamenei and Ali Khamenei. In Sarbaz, a billboard displaying images of Khomeini, Khamenei, and Mojtaba Khamenei was set on fire.
Actions target regime security and intelligence centers
The Resistance Units’ actions also targeted locations associated with the regime’s security and intelligence apparatus.
In Chabahar, an explosion was reported at a Basij-IRGC facility. In Iranshahr, an explosion was reported at a government price-control office.
In Bandar Abbas, a sign identifying an IRGC surveillance and informant center was targeted with an incendiary device. A similar action was reported in Genaveh against a sign identifying an intelligence ministry espionage center.
In Azna, Resistance Units targeted a sign identifying an intelligence ministry surveillance center, again using images of Khomeini, Khamenei, and Mojtaba Khamenei.
A response to executions and repression
The actions came in the wake of the regime’s execution of Alireza Sepahi and Alireza Raisi, two prisoners connected to the January uprising. Their executions have intensified concerns over the fate of other political prisoners and death-row detainees across Iran.
The response from Resistance Units carries a broader political message: executions and repression are not ending opposition to the regime. Instead, each wave of repression is being met with renewed acts of defiance.
The actions also highlight the role of the PMOI Resistance Units as an organized network inside Iran. By targeting regime propaganda, symbols of its leadership, and institutions associated with repression, they seek to challenge the atmosphere of fear that the regime attempts to impose through executions, arrests, and security operations.
From Tehran and the cities of central Iran to Sistan and Baluchestan and the southern coast, the geographic spread of the actions underscores the nationwide character of this confrontation.
The message accompanying the actions is uncompromising: the execution of political prisoners will not silence opposition, and the regime’s use of the death penalty and repression cannot extinguish the continuing resistance for a free Iran.
