Iranian Regime Under Increasing Domestic Pressure

The Resistance inside Iran is huge and it is supported by MEK

The Iranian regime is facing pressure from all fronts. On an international level, the Iranian regime is being put under immense economic pressure by the United States.

Since President Donald Trump took office last year, the regime has been hit with a series of sanctions that do not show any sign of stopping in the near future.

The only saving grace for the Iranian regime was the appeasement policies that much of the West have been leading when it comes to Iran. However, this is all changing too because European leaders are pleading with Iran to reverse its breaches of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and to stop escalating tensions in the region because it is becoming impossible for its actions to be pardoned.

Following the recent attack on Saudi oil installations a few weeks ago, Iran has been under even more international scrutiny. In a joint statement, France, Germany and the United Kingdom have said that Iran was clearly behind the attack, saying that there is no plausible alternative. Saudi Arabia and the United States have also strongly denounced the regime’s actions.

However, one of the biggest sources of pressure is not from abroad – it is coming from the people of Iran. The regime has always dismissed the opposition in Iran as insignificant and without a large following, but in recent years it is unable to do so.

The Resistance inside Iran is huge and it is supported by a major network outside the country too. The people have made it very clear that they want regime change and there is no doubt that they will be the main force behind the regime’s imminent collapse.

Protests in Iran have been happening for years, but they have evolved from economic-focused protests to major political rallies. The people are in the street setting fire to symbols of the regime and posters of the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Only a few days ago, Iranians were gathering in cities across the country displaying posters with slogans such as “Long live freedom and democracy” and “Freedom with Maryam Rajavi” (the President-elect of the main opposition, the National Council of Resistance of Iran – NCRI).

And the people’s determination for regime change is all the more astonishing and powerful when we consider that each Iranian that takes to the street to protest against the mullahs, or each Iranian that dares utter a word that the regime considers out of place, literally risks everything.

Iranians are arrested, thrown in jail, tortured and even executed for speaking out against the regime. Even posting a message on social media can warrant very harsh treatment.

The people of Iran, especially young people, are the biggest threat to the regime’s existence. That is why it is planning attacks around the world and heightening tensions – it is trying to detract from the paralyzing domestic turmoil that it faces.

There is no other option other than regime change because people know that reform is impossible.
