Insider news & Analysis in Iran

The number of executions carried out by Iranian authorities — often hanging dubiously convicted citizens from construction cranes in public — has risen sharply since President Hassan Rouhani took office in August, a surge most likely because of a secret power struggle within Iran’s notoriously veiled political system.

According to reports from inside Iran, the officials of the Ministry of Intelligence(MOIS) in Khuzestan Province (South West Iran) refuse to hand over to their families the corpses of Rashid Hashem and Hadi Shabani, who were executed about 5 days ago.

Officials and wardens of Ghezel-Heasr prison threatened the inmates that after the Geneva talks they will execute all of them. This happened subsequent to protests and hunger strikes by some political prisoners.

The anti-human clerical regime clandestinely hanged six prisoners in Urumiyah’s central prison on January 30. Additionally on the previous day, mullahs’ intelligence conveyed news on execution of two political prisoners to their families.

Dozens of Iranian youths clashed with security forces during a protest outside the homes of two activists executed by the regime.

A 26-year-old mother is facing execution on February 2 for the murder of her husband, which she denies, in the city of Esfahan (in central of Iran).
