It has now been 3 months, 88 days exactly, since political prisoner Arjhang Davoudi has been in solitary confinement. His case is just another example of the extreme physical and psychological pressures used by interrogators of the Ministry of Intelligence.

Two political prisoners are not receiving any medical attention as a means to coerce them to forgo their beliefs.
Mohammad Banazadeh Amirkhizi, a political prisoner in Rajaishahr prison in Karaj city, West of Tehran, who broke his hand while taking a patient to the infirmary has been deprived of any medical care and kept in the ward with agonizing pain. He is not allowed to seek medical care either inside the prison or in hospitals outside the prison.

On Thursday, February 6th, two 12-year old pupils from Kouhrang in Chaharmahal & Bakhtiari Province, West of Iran, each suffered severe frostbite due to a harsh punishment assigned by their teacher, a member of Basij force.

Reports received from Iran on February 10th detail the story of Shabnam and Farzad Madadzadeh, two political prisoners who were recently released from prison after completing 5 year sentences. They were interrogated as to why they went to the front of the prison to welcome Shabnam and Farzad.

On February 9th the state-run ILNA website reported that, according to Eastern Azerbaijan’s General Director of Forensics Bahram Samadi, 58 workers have died in the workplace in that region. Falling from a great height was responsible for 48% of these deaths, followed by being hit with hard objects and severe burns as the next two most likely causes of workplace accident fatalities. These statistics do not count workers without medical insurance so the results leave out a large percentage of the working population. Laborer activists have begun calling the deaths of uninsured workers “silent deaths” in reference to their lack of recognition from the media.
