Executions in Iran—October 2021:

According to the news published and collected in October 2021, at least 25 prisoners were executed in different prisons in Iran. Due to some executions taking place in secret, the exact number cannot be reflected, or it is leaked out of prison with a delay and at intervals, thus the actual number of executions is suspected to be even higher.

Among those executed were 24 male and one female prisoner. Executions were carried out in the prisons of Isfahan, Central Qazvin, Central Karaj, Central Zahedan, Sepidar, Saravan, Central Zanjan, Central Qom, Central Kermanshah, Ghaen, Central Birjand, and Central Yazd prisons on drug and murder charges.

Most executions took place in Isfahan Central and Zanjan Central Prisons. Some of the executed are as follow:

The woman executed was identified as Susan Rezaeipour, who was executed on October 27, 2021, in central Zanjan of Qazvin, after 6 years of imprisonment for murder. She suffered from a forced marriage. In her confession before her execution, she had said that her husband was all the time drunk and beat her every day from 3 pm until the end of the night.

Hossein and Ramin Dadkhah: A father and a son and were executed in Yazd Central Prison on October 3, 2021, after five years of imprisonment on drug charges.

Omid Sarani: He was executed in Birjand Central Prison on drug charges on October 11, 2021. During his imprisonment, had no access to a lawyer and could not connect his family before his execution. Omid Sarani was a soldier who was arrested and sentenced to death two years ago for carrying 30 kilograms of narcotics while crossing the Sahelabad Nehbandan checkpoint.

Saeed Sadeghi: He was executed on October 18, 2021, in Saravan prison after 20 years of imprisonment for murder.

Zakaria Baluch: He was executed in Zahedan Central Prison for drug charges on October 18, 2021.

Ali Mohammad Mohammadi (45 years old) and Eslam Mohammadi (38 years old): They were brothers and were executed for murder in Sepidar prison in Ahvaz on October 19, 2021. Simultaneously with the execution, the mother of the two suffered a heart attack and died after being transferred to a medical center. The people of Ramhormoz clashed with regime officials after this incident and at least five people were injured, and dozens were arrested.

Nazarnaz Ghanbarzehi (Siahani): He was executed in Zahedan Central Prison on October 20, 2021, after three years of imprisonment on drug charges. He suffers from 80% blindness. He was scheduled to undergo eye surgery, but his death sentence was carried out.

Arrests in Iran—October 2021:

In October 2021, at least 60 people were arrested for various reasons.

Arbitrary Arrests:

Twenty-five people were arrested on charges such as expressing a Western lifestyle on the Internet and the sale of illegal books.

Political Arrests:

Some 35 people were arrested under various headings such as affiliation with the opposition People’s Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI/MEK), propaganda against the regime, membership in opposition parties, affiliation with the July 2021 protests, participation in the July protests in Khuzestan, posting pictures on the Internet, insulting the regime’s so-called sacred subjects on the Internet.

Torture in Iran—October 2021:

In October 2021, some news was reported of torture in the regime’s detention centers. It is worth noting that the reality of torture inflicted on prisoners is far beyond this news. Human rights violations are systematically ongoing in prisons.

Physical Torture:

Several normal and dangerous prisoners hired by the head of the prison at the 2nd Brigade of Greater Tehran Prison attacked and severely beat political prisoners Akbar Bagheri, Pouya Ghobadi, Akbar Faraji, Shapoor Ehsani Rad, Ismail Gerami, Arshia Vazifeh, Shahab Soltanian, and Davood Abdollahi.

Political prisoners Soheil Arabi and Behnam Moosivand were beaten in Gohardasht prison for refusing to go to court by order of the deputy director of the prison.

Javad Hosseini Nejad, a political prisoner in Vakilabad prison in Mashhad, was severely beaten by two hired prisoners of the prison.

Psychological Torture

The political prisoner Nejat Anvar Hamidi in Ahvaz Sepidar Prison is in danger of blindness. However, prison officials prevented him from receiving medical treatment by order of the Ministry of Intelligence.

Khosrow Sadeghi Boroujeni, a journalist and researcher, was jailed in Evin Prison, is denied access to medical centers outside the prison, and medical leave despite his poor physical condition.
