Anti-regime demonstrations resumed in Iran on October 13 for the 28th consecutive day. According to the Iranian opposition Mojahedin-e Khalq (MEK), the regime’s brutality has claimed more than 400 people.

In the past four weeks, authorities mercilessly targeted protesters and bystanders with teargas and birdshot. Field reports say security forces also use live ammunition at night. Protesters’ injuries and victims’ bodies prove these reports.

The regime has also arrested more than 20,000 people for quelling demonstrations. Instead, the protests expanded to further areas, reaching 185 cities across Iran. Reports say the cities of Tabas in South Khorasan province, Torbat-e Jam in Golestan, and Galugah in Mazandaran recently joined the protests.

Najafabad University Students Began Protests

On October 13, university students in Najafabad, Isfahan province, resumed anti-regime demonstrations for the 28th day. “Basij forces [the Revolutionary Guards’ paramilitary division]; get lost,” students chant.

October 13 – Najafabad, Isfahan Province, central Iran

Students of Islamic Azad University—Najafabad Branch chanting: “Basiji get lost!” They’re referring to members of the IRGC paramilitary Basij Force.

For decades, the mullahs pushed IRGC Basij forces into the universities and colleges as students and “professors.” Their main task is espionage and disappointing freedom-loving students of a better future.

They are also the regime’s arm for quelling students during protests. For instance, Basij forces played a vital role in the bloody crackdown on defiant students during the 1999 uprising. They mercilessly attacked protesting students’ dormitories, breaking doors, and throwing opponents out from windows, leading to several victims.

In 2009, January 2018, November 2019, and January 2020, Basij forces were involved in suppression alongside the IRGC official troops and security forces. Iranian citizens know the Basij as a mercenary apparatus that fools minors with little incentive and turns them into professional murderers.
