The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) is a strong movement, which its central council consists of thousands of women. In Iran, Albania, France, Germany, London and Sweden. On September 6th, when the 52nd anniversary of the organization was celebrated, its congress elected a woman as its new Secretary General. Ms. Zahra Merrikhi will serve as the new Secretary General for the next two years.

INU - The Friends of a Free Iran in the European Parliament (FOFI), who has the support of around 300 parliamentarians from various political groups and countries, held a conference at the headquarters of the European Parliament in Strasbourg on September 13th, 2017. Dozens of MEPs called on the Council of the European Union, the member states, and the High Representative of the European Union, Mrs. Federica Mogherini, to end silence and inaction regarding the brutal violation of human rights in Iran. They demanded an independent investigation by the United Nations into the massacre of 30,000 political prisoners in Iran in 1988, and that those responsible for the crime be brought to trial.

INU - The democratic elections held by the Iranian Resistance show that there is indeed an alternative to the repressive, totally rule of the mullahs, according to one political scientist.

Ms. Zahra Merrikhi has been elected as the new Secretary General of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (MEK/PMOI) during its annual Congress (which was held in Tirana and five other countries at the same time). This appointment coincided with the organisation’s 52nd anniversary.

On Saturday 2nd September, a major rally took place in the Netherlands. The protesters gathered at The Hague to urge the Dutch government to lead an inquiry into the 1988 massacre in Iran in which more than 30,000 political prisoners were executed. They want to see those responsible brought to justice.
