In a situation where the Iranian regime spared no effort to swiftly suppress every voice of protest and freedom on the anniversary of the 2022 uprising, Iran’s resistance, both within and outside the country, achieved a remarkable victory.

The Resistance Units carried out over 500 powerful activities in more than 40 cities, disrupting the slumber of the ruling mullahs. With two significant gatherings in Brussels and New York, Iran’s resistance emerged as the resounding voice of protesting youth and people who remain firm in their quest for freedom.

Across various cities, the Resistance Units and their dedicated young supporters took to the streets, even in the face of heavy security presence, boldly chanting slogans against regime supreme leader Ali Khamenei. This audacious action rekindled hope in the hearts of those yearning for freedom and equality.

The regime’s leaders, who had long avoided acknowledging the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), were compelled to concede that MEK supporters had been the driving force behind the nationwide protests of 2022. Inadvertently, they exposed their fear of the resurgence of the MEK during their appearances at Friday Prayers and elsewhere.

During these historic days, the people of Iran bore witness to an inspiring sight: both female and male students took their place at the forefront of the democratic revolution, fearlessly confronting the IRGC with steadfast courage. Through their participation in social protests and stirring displays of resistance, they instilled a sense of dread into the minds of those who sought to suppress them.

Remarkably, this spirit of defiance had permeated even the youngest of elementary school students. With fearless determination, they defiantly cut out and burn the detested pictures of Khomeini and Khamenei from the first pages of their textbooks, right in the streets.

In this way, a formidable force composed of millions of Iranian students found their path to revolution and freedom. It is evident that this element of rebellion and explosive self-awareness renders the newer generations of Iran a potent threat to the grip of religious fanaticism.

These formidable generations will only become more potent as they join the ranks of organized uprisings and resistance movements within the country, expanding in uncontrollable proportions. Inspired by the indomitable spirit of the MEK and their revered martyrs, they will proudly raise the banner of the Resistance Units.

The regime’s president Ebrahim Raisi openly acknowledged that the younger generation, including students, had distanced themselves from the government and thrown their support behind the Resistance Units and the protesting youth.

“In this space, it is possible for external influences to manipulate the thoughts, morals, and behavior of our children. There are malevolent forces at work, seeking to shape the minds, ethics, and conduct of our youth to suit their own agendas.”

While Raisi refrained from explicitly mentioning the MEK, several other officials within the regime have lifted the veil and publicly identified the MEK as the primary driving force behind the nationwide protests in 2022. Allah Nur Karimitabar the Friday Prayers Imam in Ilam, remarked:

“Just as they did months ago on the anniversary of the unrest, our adversaries actively advertised and prepared equipment to foment insecurity within our nation… The other side of this malevolent alliance was the hypocrites [the term used by the regime for the MEK].”

Regime leaders are endeavoring to project an image of widespread popular approval for the mullahs’ system, believing it’s the key to preventing its overthrow. Simultaneously, the Friday Prayer leader of Sari acknowledged the growing discontent with regime figures among the populace, particularly among students, and stated:

“It is of greater significance for a student to possess a strong national identity than to excel in academic pursuits. Conduct a survey in schools and assess how many individuals recognize Ronaldo, and how many are familiar with Kazemi Ashtiani.”

The specter of overthrow has become a recurring theme in the rhetoric of the regime’s leadership. In Hamedan, an IRGC commander delved into the anxieties of both regime leaders and the IRGC, recalling the Eternal Light operation of the National League Army in 1988:

“During the time of Mersad [the term the regime uses for the Eternal Light operation], we harbored security concerns that [the MEK] might have infiltrated Hamedan and Kermanshah provinces through various channels and secondary routes, given our proximity to Kermanshah province.”

The reality is that this fear of being overthrown has long haunted the minds of the regime’s top brass, its elements, and its supporters. This apprehension is not without basis in reality.

Following the suppression of the nationwide uprising in 2022, the regime’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, and other high-ranking officials have taken no substantial steps to address the grievances of the people.

They are acutely aware of their impending fate, which is the inevitable overthrow of the regime. Their efforts are primarily geared towards postponing this inevitability for a limited period of time.
