The Secretariat of the National Council of Resistance of Iran issued a statement regarding the Deravishes gathering in Tehran:
Reports from inside Iran as of 1 pm local time indicate that in the streets nearby the Panzdah-e Khordad Square and Galoobandak intersection of Tehran the regime’s intelligence agents and the suppressive forces have entered into a clash with those who have come to the gathering in order to prevent the assembly of dervishes and families of political prisoners in front of the Central Courthouse and used pepper gas against them. Hundreds of people have been arrested, including 80 women. This is how the clerical regime reveals its rage against the freedom-loving women in the country on the occasion of the International Women’s Day on March 8.
The agents attacked Ms. Nassrin Sotoudeh, lawyer of political prisoners who spent the years 2010 to 2013 in prison for her defense of political prisoners, with pepper gas and threatened her with arrest. A number of the arrestees were interrogated in the Panzdah-e Khordad Police Station.
Meanwhile, elements of the suppressive forces who were being escorted by motorcycle riders from the anti-riot units fired shots into the air and clashed with the people who had come to participate in the gathering in front of the Hosseinieh of Gonabadi dervishes in Behesht-e Zahra Street of Tehran. They badly beat up with batons the arrested dervishes who were resisting getting on the Special Units’ vehicles for their transfer to prison.
