INU – On Tuesday, Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei continued to add personal commentary to media coverage of the mass protests that are now in their second week. Khamenei’s statements reinforced at least two main points of the regime’s narrative: first, that the “sedition” had been defeated by security forces and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, and second, that the demonstrations had been instigated and directed in large part by foreign “enemies” of the Islamic Republic, chiefly the United States, Saudi Arabia. And admitted that the one and only organized opposition the Peoples’ Mujahidin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) has been organizing and supporting the protests allover Iran.
