On Tuesday, January 30, residents of Kurdistan cities took a united stand by closing their markets and shops, engaging in a collective strike. Their protest was fueled by the recent execution of Kurdish youths, namely Mohammad Faramarzi, Mohsen Mazloum, Wafa Azarbar, and Pejman Fatehi.

The strike resonated across various cities, including Mahabad, Sanandaj, Saqqez, Bukan, Kamyaran, Baneh, Ravansar, Dehgolan, Divandarreh, Qorveh, Marivan, and the Farhangian neighborhood of Kermanshah. Despite the citizens’ outcry, Iran’s regime obstinately refused to release the bodies of the executed youths to their grieving families. Notably, in Mahabad, Bukan, Kamyaran, and Dehgolan, compassionate individuals visited the homes of the deceased to offer condolences.

In Semirom, a powerful demonstration unfolded as marketers and shop owners joined forces in a strike. Their collective protest aimed at condemning the imposition of a new death sentence for Mehran and Fazel Bahramian, along with severe sentences for other individuals arrested during the nationwide protests in 2022.

The previous day, political prisoners at Ghezel Hesar penitentiary voiced their discontent with the ongoing executions orchestrated by the oppressive mullahs’ regime. They announced a weekly strike every Tuesday to express their resistance.

A group of ten political prisoners, exiled from Gohardasht to Ghezel Hesar, issued a statement on Monday, detailing the brutality they faced for opposing the surge in executions.

Security forces violently attacked the political prisoners’ ward on Sunday, January 28, using physical assault, threats, and insults, while also confiscating and destroying their belongings.

The prisoners revealed that these actions were an attempt to suppress their protest against state executions, especially in light of the impending execution of four fellow Kurds and others awaiting the implementation of their sentences.

Simultaneously, another group of prisoners on death row at Ghezel Hesar prison declared a hunger strike every Tuesday to draw attention to the urgent need to halt executions.

In solidarity, the political prisoners of Ghezel Hesar prison affirmed their support for this cause.

They joined the campaign to halt the execution machine, vowing to continue their hunger strike every Tuesday until the massacre machine is brought to a halt.

In response to these developments, the women’s ward of political prisoners in Evin initiated a hunger strike on Tuesday afternoon to protest the relentless executions.

This action followed their one-day strike last week, where they stood against the execution of Mohammad Ghobadlou and Farhad Salimi.
