British Foreign Minister David Cameron has conveyed a strong message to his Iranian counterpart, Hossein Amirabdollahian, urging the regime to cease its support for the Houthi rebels. In a tweet posted on the X social network on Wednesday, January 17, Cameron emphasized that Iran must halt the supply of weapons and information to the Houthis, urging them to use their influence to prevent further Houthi attacks in the Red Sea.

According to Cameron, it is crucial for Iran’s regime to refrain from exploiting its regional influence as a cover for reckless actions and violations of the sovereignty of other nations. He stated that he had communicated these concerns to Iran regime’s Foreign Minister Amirabdollahian.

The Iranian regime has been identified as a supporter of the Houthi militias in Yemen, prompting recent targeted actions by the United States and Britain in response to Houthi attacks in the Red Sea.

On January 17, the U.S. government reinstated the Yemeni Houthi group, backed by Iran’s regime, to the special list of international terrorists.

Earlier on January 15, the Foreign Minister of the Iran’s regime acknowledged receiving a message from the White House regarding Houthi attacks in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. He stated, ‘The Houthis’ position is to continue their attacks in the Red Sea until the end of the Gaza war.’

In a previous announcement, U.S. President Joe Biden revealed that Washington had delivered a ‘private message’ to Iran concerning the Houthi rebels supported by the Iranian regime and their assaults on commercial ships in the Red Sea.
