160 Bahraini Terrorists, Who Attacked Police Personnel Are Sheltered by Iran

While speaking in an interview on the sidelines of his participation in the Bahrain International Defence Exhibition & Conference (BIDEC 2017) the Interior Minister discussed the situation. He also congratulated Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) Commander-in-Chief, His Excellency Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, and Commander of the Royal Guard and President of the Supreme Committee of BIDEC 2017 His Highness Colonel Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

Sheikh Rashed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa said in the interview published on Wednesday that all 160 “fugitives” were involved in “terrorism cases” that targeted Bahraini police and security forces. It is reported that he also said that Iran’s Revolutionary Guards trained the group, and that those arrested had confessed to receiving training on the use of weapons and bomb-making in the Iranian Revolutionary Guards camps where the recruits were in the age group of 20 – 40 years.

According to Sheikh Rashed Al Khalifa, the material seized was smuggled into Bahrain from Iran, and included 24kg of high-grade explosives. Also found was Iranian financial and logistical support to carry out terrorist acts.

Bahrain, a key US ally and home to the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet, has accused Iran of meddling in its internal affairs. Tehran denies the allegation. However, it’s reported that the negative official statements by Iran numbered 254 in 2011. In addition, Iran finances 71 multi-language channels, and Bahrain has repeatedly warned about the Iranian interference in the internal security of Bahrain and the region through its cells and sectarian organizations. The Interior Minister added that the Iranian interference has focused on exporting extremism and sectarianism. Regional and international efforts to eliminate the roots of terrorism are required, he said, especially toward the Iranian role of financing militias and supplying them with weapons.

Describing the massive success of the Bahrain International Defense Exhibition & Conference (BIDEC 2017) as a national achievement for the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Interior Minister congratulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, and Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier.
