As we enter the 56th week of the “No to Executions Tuesdays” Campaign in Iran, prisoners at Dizelabad Prison in Kermanshah have united with their peers across the country to engage in a hunger strike beginning February 18, 2025. This action reflects their commitment to opposing the brutal death penalty that continues to plague our society.
The campaign mourns the loss of Amir Mohammad Khaleqi, a student whose life was cut short under suspicious circumstances. The government must be held accountable for such acts of violence against innocent citizens. The solidarity shown by students from various universities is vital as they rally against these injustices.

Since January 20, 2025, at least 55 individuals have been executed by this oppressive regime, including two women. In a concerning development, a court has reinstated Sharifeh Mohammadi’s death sentence after it had been overturned by higher authorities. This prompted ordinary crime prisoners at Lakan Prison to express their solidarity by joining in the hunger strike.
The violent crackdown on protests in Dehdasht exemplifies the regime’s ruthless tactics against dissenters. Furthermore, children suffering from severe illnesses are being deprived of necessary medical care due to financial constraints faced by their families.
In response to these ongoing violations of human rights and dignity, the “No to Execution Tuesdays” Campaign is dedicated to advocating for those on death row and supporting children with critical health needs. The hunger strike will persist on February 18, 2025, across multiple prisons throughout Iran.
