Tehran hardens stance against inspections while the EU urges de-escalation and transparency in nuclear activities.

Kaja Kallas, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, held talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to push for an immediate resumption of nuclear negotiations. Kallas reaffirmed the EU’s position that any move by Iran to withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) would be counterproductive. She stressed the importance of restoring cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and the EU expressed readiness to assist in facilitating talks. However, Iran’s parliament has instructed the government to end all cooperation with IAEA inspectors in retaliation for the 12-day war with Israel. This legislative move significantly complicates international efforts to resolve the nuclear crisis diplomatically.
