On the eve of the third anniversary of the 2022 massacre, Baluch youth and the PMOI Resistance Units reignited the spirit of defiance with bold street actions and symbolic tributes.

Historical Context

On September 30, 2022, known as “Bloody Friday,” security forces of the Iranian regime opened fire on peaceful worshippers in Zahedan after Friday prayers. More than 100 people, including women and children, were killed in what became one of the deadliest crackdowns since the 1979 revolution. The massacre has since become a symbol of injustice and resistance for the Baluch community and the wider Iranian struggle for freedom.

On September 26, 2025, just days before the third anniversary of Zahedan’s “Bloody Friday” massacre, the city’s youth staged courageous acts of defiance to honor the memory of more than 100 martyrs who were brutally killed during the regime’s violent crackdown on worshippers in October 2022.

The tragedy, etched into Iran’s collective memory, has become a symbol of both suffering and steadfast resistance—particularly for the Baluch community in Sistan and Baluchestan. By taking to the streets and holding symbolic ceremonies, the youth of Zahedan demonstrated that the blood of the martyrs will not be forgotten.

PMOI Resistance Units Lead the Way

PMOI Resistance Units in Zahedan organized a series of protest actions, pledging to continue the martyrs’ path until the dictatorship of the Supreme Leader is overthrown. Banners, handwritten messages, and slogans were displayed across the city, particularly after Friday prayers, amplifying the call for freedom.

These actions underscored the determination of a new generation inspired by the sacrifices of those who came before them. Their chants and writings carried a powerful message: the fight for liberation and justice is alive, and the spirit of resistance remains unbroken.

Women at the Frontline

Baluch women played a leading role in commemorations, standing alongside men with remarkable courage. Their visible participation sent a resounding message to the regime: the blood of the innocent will not be trampled upon. Their presence symbolized unity, resilience, and the enduring strength of Baluch society against systematic oppression.

Demands for Justice

The anniversary actions reverberated with slogans such as “The blood of the martyrs will not be forgotten” and “Justice is on the way.” These chants expressed a collective determination that those responsible for the Zahedan massacre—both commanders and perpetrators—cannot escape accountability.

The defiance of Zahedan’s youth and resistance units was not merely commemorative but also a warning to the regime. The Baluch people declared that they will not surrender to repression, and that the sacrifice of the martyrs has only deepened the roots of resistance across the region.

A Movement That Lives On

By honoring the fallen, the people of Zahedan transformed grief into resolve. The anniversary became both a remembrance and a renewed declaration of struggle. As activists emphasized, the martyrs’ blood has ignited a flame that fuels the ongoing fight for freedom and justice.

The regime’s attempts at intimidation cannot extinguish this determination. The Resistance Units and the youth of Zahedan have once again shown that the path of the martyrs continues, and that the future of Iran lies in the hands of a generation determined to achieve liberty.
