The Iranian regime’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei’s mouthpiece, Kayhan daily published an article on Sunday 25 December titled, “The USA has recognized the presidency of Maryam Rajavi.”

They wrote, “‘I want to begin by recognizing President-Elect Maryam Rajavi. Under her leadership, the National Council of Resistance of Iran is laying the groundwork for a free, sovereign, and democratic republic in Iran.’ This was part of Mike Pompeo’s speech at a bi-partisan conference on December 18 in Washington, D.C., which was held in solidarity with the Iranian people’s democratic revolution and their organized Resistance movement.

It appears that the Washington conference, organized by the Organization of Iranian American Communities (OIAC), has become a real nightmare for the Iranian regime, who are using every occasion and meeting to complain about it.

The regime’s media has also started broadcasting propaganda against the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK). The regime has been forced to address its main enemy, despite its will, while being fully aware that this will provoke heavy political costs for them. This unbelievable amount of fear was reflected by the state-run daily Mashregh News, which wrote seven articles and reports about the MEK in just one day.

The regime’s media are now warning each other about the consequences of this conference. The media coverage of this event has been put forward in such a way that it would seem to onlookers that a new president has already been chosen for Iran during this conference and that the US personalities, who support the Iranian resistance, have made this choice.

Interestingly, despite this level of attacks and the demonization of the MEK, Khamenei is still complaining about the regime’s propaganda apparatus and questioning why ‘they are not doing enough in these fields?’

The real question is, why is the regime reacting so aggressively to this conference and attacking the president-elect of the National Council Resistance of Iran (NCRI) Mrs. Maryam Rajavi?

This absurd reaction is due to two solid facts:

  1. The strategy of the Resistance Units has shown its efficiency in the nationwide uprising. Inspired by them, Iranian youths have matured into a great threat to the regime. Something that has become a permanent nightmare for Khamenei and his hopeless supporters.

Even though in the revolutionary conditions of Iran, any kind of propaganda and demonization against the MEK and Mrs. Maryam Rajavi will have the opposite result, they are showing the youths the right way to confront the regime and are raising their interest to seek the truth and history of the MEK.

  1. The creation of fake oppositions by the regime’s Ministry of Intelligence has failed and it has been forced to admit the role of the democratic alternative of the NCRI, the 10-point plan of Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the MEK, and their organization as leaders and promoters of changes.

On one hand, the regime’s propaganda apparatus is trying to promote that the US government is behind the protests and the demise of the regime. While on the other hand, by tying the MEK to the US, it is trying to mobilize the inner circle of the regime forces and wake them up to defend the regime.

This was reflected in the people’s slogans during recent protests. Protesters were heard chanting, “Our enemy is within the country; they lie it is America.”

It should be noted that the support by US dignitaries and friends of the Resistance is due to the progress of the MEK’s hard-gained honest diplomacy that has been carried out over the past four decades. The MEK has paid the price of this diplomacy with their blood and their unbelievable sacrifice, which is considered exceptional in Iran’s history.

Meanwhile, the policy of appeasement and support to this regime is still acting in U.S. and Europe. Mrs. Maryam Rajavi openly criticized this policy in her speech at the Washington conference, stating, “Unfortunately, the US diplomacy is trying to observe Khamenei’s red lines by adopting double standards. In its media approach, the US blames the regime’s repression, expresses mild sympathy with part of the protests, and pays no price for such stances. In practical policy, however, they try to reach an agreement.”

She added, “The time has come for western governments to end this policy and listen to the voice of the Iranian people and resistance, who have kept the flame of resistance for freedom alight for four decades by paying the heaviest price.”

History will never forget that the appeasement policy took a heavy price from the Iranian people and their Resistance. Including the June 17, 2003, raid in which the French government arrested Mrs. Rajavi and members of the Iranian resistance residing in France in a shameful deal with the Iranian regime which was later totally ruled out by the courts.

Or when before the 2003 U.S.-led war in Iraq, the PMOI (MEK) publicly declared neutrality and played no part in the conflict. In the early part of the invasion, but because of the quid pro quo between Washington and Tehran, PMOI (MEK) bases were repeatedly bombed by Coalition forces, inflicting dozens of casualties and enormous structural damage.
