Gingrich: Sanctions Driving Iran to Breaking Point

INU - The former speaker of the US House of Representatives has said that he believes that the tough American sanctions on Iran have shaken the Regime and driven them close to the breaking point.

Newt Gingrich, appearing on Fox & Friends on Tuesday, said: "The sanctions are really biting and, month by month, their economy is getting worse and people are getting more and more unhappy. I think [the Regime is] lashing out desperately, trying to somehow change the circumstance."

Khamenei has always pretended to be a religious man leading a simple life, with plenty of people testifying to this. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani sprang to Khamenei’s defence after the sanctions were imposed last week to claim that the Supreme Leader only owned a simple house and a congregation hall.

Cotton Mocks Iran FM Over Sanctions

INU - US Senator Tom Cotton has mocked Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif’s comments about sanctions on the Regime, saying that Zarif is no longer able to spend “his people's money in five-star restaurants”.

The Arkansas Republican appeared on Fox News on Monday evening, shortly after Donald Trump signed an executive order to impose sanctions on Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Commanders in response to a series of “aggressive behaviours”, including shooting down a US drone.
