Iran's state piracy, multiple goals, and inevitable destiny

More than two weeks have passed since the Iranian regime’s piracy on British oil tankers. The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps initially claimed that the ship was impounded in accordance with the request of the Iranian Ports Organization for violating naval laws. But these ridiculous claims were immediately rejected by the regime’s officials themselves.

Operator of British Tanker Seized by Iran Still Unable to Visit Crew

INU - The Swedish-based operator of the British-flagged oil tanker that Iran seized last Friday in Omani waters has said that it is still waiting for permission to visit the ship’s 23 crew members.

In a statement on Tuesday, Stena Bulk said: “We continue to focus our efforts on supporting the families of those affected in India, Russia, Latvia and the Philippines and will continue to offer full support until all 23 crew members are released and safely back with their families.”

One was released fairly quickly, but the owners and operators of the other tanker immediately attempted to make urgent contact with the vessel. Military officials were also quick to attempt to establish contact with the vessel named Stena Impero.
