There is no doubt that the Iranian regime is a warmongering regime that has become an international pariah. At the start of its reign, the regime started two major wars. The first one was its war against the Iranian people; the second was its regional meddling and warmongering, as well as its support of global terrorism. Both of which are still ongoing today.

Over the past four decades, the regime has benefited from many regional and international disputes. From the first gulf war in 1990 to Afghanistan’s war in 2001, to the invasion of Iraq in 2003, and the wars in Syria and Yemen. Now, the regime is showing its support for the war in Ukraine.

In his latest meeting with the Russian President, the regime’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei showed his support for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Khamenei said, “In the case of Ukraine if you didn’t take the initiative, the other side would take the initiative and cause a war. NATO is a dangerous entity. The West is totally opposed to a strong, independent Russia. If the way is opened for NATO, it will recognize no limits. If it hadn’t been stopped in Ukraine, it would have later started a similar war in Crimea.”

According to the Associated Press, U.S. national security adviser Jake Sullivan said, “Our information indicates that the Iranian government is preparing to provide Russia with up to several hundred UAVs, including weapons-capable UAVs, on an expedited timeline.”

The first signs of such a deal were revealed for the first time by the regime’s media in August 2019, where they claimed that Russia had expressed interest in buying from the regime-armed drones. Following this revelation, the regime’s media stated that Russian officials visited Iran twice to look at different models, mainly the Shahed-191 and Shahed-129.

Even before this event, reports suggested that the Iranian regime was selling weapons to the Russians despite the arms embargo imposed on them.

In a report on April 12, the Guardian newspaper reported that “Russia is receiving munitions and military hardware sourced from Iraq for its war effort in Ukraine with the help of Iranian weapons-smuggling networks, according to members of Iranian-backed Iraqi militias and regional intelligence services with knowledge of the process. And an Iranian-made Bavar 373 missile system, similar to the Russian S-300, has been donated to Moscow by the authorities in Tehran.”

On July 24, Khamenei’s mouthpiece, the Kayhan daily, referring to the war in Ukraine, wrote, “(Khamenei’s) statements in the meeting with Putin indicate that Iran is aware of the reality behind the scenes of the war in Ukraine and is closely monitoring NATO’s movements in the region.”

They added, “And because it knows that if America wins in Ukraine, Iran will be one of the next and main targets, so it considers Russia’s confrontation with America and NATO in Ukraine as part of its security and logically and naturally supports it.”

It should be considered that continuing to appease the regime, parallel to the regime’s increasing warmongering, global terrorism, and blackmailing, like in the case of its diplomat-terrorist Assadollah Asadi, will only encourage the regime to continue such activities. Therefore, it is important that the international community takes a firm stand against the regime, especially in the case of its dangerous nuclear project.

As a sign of the danger of the appeasement policy, the speeches of King Abdullah, King of Jordan, have given insight into the effects of countries pandering to the regime’s every whim. In his interview with the daily al-Rai media, King Abdullah said that his country is facing systematic attacks by the militants of the Iranian regime. He has also accused the regime of meddling in Arab countries and added that Jordan is facing regular attacks on its borders by militias linked to Iran.

These facts confirm how deeply terrorism is entrenched in the structure of the regime. The regime has shown that it has no intention to change its way. It is now, more than ever, important that the international community isolates the regime completely, ends the shameful appeasement policy, and supports the Iranian people and their resistance. This is the only way the world can guarantee its security against the tyrannical dictatorship ruling Iran.
