On September 27, 2021, Iran’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei asked its forces especially the regime’s media and cyber army to start a new project which he called the ‘Jihad of Explanation’. It was clear that this project is a tool against the growing popularity of the Iranian Resistance and the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) because he announced it at the same date as the people and MEK’s supporters protest on September 27, 1981, in which the MEK expanded the slogan ‘death to Khomeini’ in the society and a new phase of resisting the Khomeini’s regime started.

Easily said the ‘Jihad of Explanation’ is an acronym for the regime’s spread of propaganda, lies, faking history, and bedevilment. Whitewashing the crimes of the regime and finding for them legal explanations, to prevent the regime’s fall.

But this defensive action did not work and some of the regime’s said. Ahmad Alamolhoda one of the regime’s main clerics showed his frustration about the non-progression of this project in the Friday pray of December 17 and remind the participating regime’s forces that this the project of ‘Jihad of Explanation’ is an ‘Obligation and Necessary’ for all of them.

“The issue of the explanation is like jihad, the jihad of explanation, that is, when the command of jihad is issued by the supreme leader, in this jihad, everyone is obliged, everyone is responsible, whether those who have a tribune, those who have pens, those who write books, press and newspapers, or those who are active in the cyberspace can enter the work in cyberspace. This jihad of explanation is necessary to all.” (State-TV Astan Quds Razavi, December 17, 2021)

This enemy that Alamolhoda is pointing to is clear for everyone. Many times, the regime’s officials, even its supreme leader have addressed it. This enemy is struggling to overthrow the regime and is not satisfied with enlightenment. Its Resistance Units are a clear sign of this goal.

“The enemy, with all his might, with all the facilities of his world media – which is well equipped – will destroy us. In the sense that it creates ambiguity and ignorance. Make things suspicious for our people and the people of the world. These are not just words and propaganda, the sequel to these words is operations. Following these, it wants to operate, to create chaos inside the country, to provide a ground for them to move into the country from outside. To remove the people from the table of the revolution, so that they come and dominate on everything we have.” (State-TV Astan Quds Razavi, December 17, 2021)

Alamolhoda’s cries are remembering the expressions and dialogues of Shah’s desperate generals in the last days of the monarchy.

“I told the Shah that we had 3 divisions concentrated in Tehran. I said that with 3 divisions, a country can be captured, a foreign country can be captured, but we in Tehran can do nothing, nothing. We must clarify our strategy and move forward based on it. Else we will melt like snow We will melt like snow.” (General Najimi Naini, one of the senior commanders of the Shah’s land force)

Amazing that now some of the regime’s elements are saying the same.

“The Soviet Union had the largest nuclear and weapons arsenal and had a very high military deterrent power; But in the end, without firing a bullet, it melted like snow. Without even knowing what happened; Because it had the illusion of power because he could not create the economic resources for its adventures. It is not possible to say that a country has military deterrence and on the other hand ignores the country’s economy and its people protest in the streets and do not go to the polls. They do not even understand why Iran is present in Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq.” (Clubhouse, Ebrahim Asgharzadeh, August 31, 2021)

The uprising of November 2019 and a series of similar uprisings have turned the page against the regime that should be called the beginning of the end of the Velayat-e-Faqih system.
