Resistance Units Challenge Iran’s Execution Machine Across Seven Cities

On October 20, 2026, members of the PMOI Resistance Units and supporters of the Iranian Resistance carried out a series of anti-execution activities in seven Iranian cities, confronting the regime’s escalating use of the death penalty. Through protest photo actions, the distribution of leaflets, and the installation of placards bearing anti-execution slogans, they demanded the immediate cancellation of death sentences and the release of political prisoners.

The activities took place in Tehran, Tabriz, Karaj, Parand, Rasht, Robat Karim, and Kermanshah. They expressed solidarity with prisoners facing execution, including political prisoners Amir Hassan Akbari Monfared and Ehsan Faridi, while denouncing the regime’s reliance on executions as an instrument of repression.

The campaign carried a clear message: “No to Execution.” Its slogans also rejected the regime’s attempts to silence dissent through imprisonment, death sentences, and executions.

Tehran and Tabriz: Demands to Free Political Prisoners

In Tehran, Resistance supporters organized protest photo actions and displayed placards and leaflets demanding the release of political prisoners and the cancellation of death sentences.

Their slogans specifically called for the release of Amir Hassan Akbari Monfared and Arghavan Fallahi, as well as the cancellation of the death sentence against imprisoned student Ehsan Faridi.

Other messages included: “Down with the execution regime” and “Our response to executions is the red fire of uprising.”

The activists also declared: “Neither prisons, nor executions, nor further killings will work anymore,” pledging to remain united until death sentences are abolished.

In Tabriz, Resistance supporters distributed leaflets carrying the slogans “No to Execution” and “We swear by the blood of our comrades that we will stand firm until the end.” The messages emphasized their determination to continue opposing executions despite the regime’s repression.

Karaj and Parand: Rejecting Death Sentences

In Karaj, activists staged protest photo actions and installed leaflets declaring that their voices were stronger and more effective than the regime’s gallows ropes.

They also demanded the abolition of what they described as the inhumane punishment of execution in Iran, challenging the regime’s use of capital punishment to intimidate society.

In Parand, protest photo actions called for the release of political prisoner Amir Hassan Akbari Monfared and voiced opposition to the death sentences facing Ehsan Faridi and Alireza Mardasi.

These activities highlighted the campaign’s focus on prisoners whose lives remain threatened by the regime’s judicial and security apparatus.

Rasht and Robat Karim: Against Executions and All Forms of Dictatorship

In Rasht, Resistance supporters called for an end to the death sentences against Zahra Tabari and Manouchehr Fallah. Their slogans also rejected both monarchical and clerical dictatorship, declaring: “Death to the oppressor, whether he is the Shah or the Supreme Leader.”

The message reinforced the Resistance’s demand for an end to dictatorship in all its forms and for a future in which political power does not rest on repression and executions.

In Robat Karim, activists staged a protest photo action against executions and set fire to a noose, using the symbolic act to express their rejection of the death penalty and the regime’s machinery of execution.

Kermanshah: “From Kurdistan to Tehran, Everyone Against Executions”

In Kermanshah, Resistance supporters carried out multiple photo actions and distributed leaflets demanding the abolition of executions and the release of political prisoners.

Their slogans included “We demand the abolition of executions,” “The abolition of executions is the demand of all the people of Iran,” and “From Kurdistan to Tehran, everyone against executions.”

Other messages declared: “We will not bow our heads, and mourning is forbidden,” alongside renewed pledges to stand firm in memory of executed comrades.

The activities connected opposition to executions across different regions of Iran, presenting the struggle against capital punishment as a nationwide demand rather than an isolated local protest.

A Campaign Against Repression and Political Executions

The October 20 activities demonstrate the continued efforts of the PMOI Resistance Units and supporters of the Iranian Resistance to challenge executions despite the risks associated with openly opposing the regime.

By raising the cases of prisoners facing death sentences, demanding the release of political detainees, and displaying anti-execution slogans in public spaces, the activists sought to break the climate of intimidation surrounding the regime’s use of capital punishment.

Their actions also linked the fight against executions to a broader rejection of dictatorship, whether monarchical or clerical, and to the demand for political freedom in Iran.

Across all seven cities, the message remained consistent: executions will not silence the demand for freedom, and the campaign to abolish the death penalty will continue.
