Iran, overt enemy & covert ally of ISIS

al arabiya farsi- The public emergence of the ISIS leader has revived new fears. Now, an individual has risen that has come to re-organize this dismantled group that has been established based on symbolism, history and religion. By coming into the open Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has resolved al-Qaeda’s three-year long problem of finding a surrogate for Osama bin Laden, the killed symbolic leader of this organization.

Iran: Iraq Involvement Officially Confirmed

The Iranian state-controlled Tasnim News Agency repeated Tehran’s false statements of “support for unity and calm in Iraq,” and its claims that it “does its utmost to maintain security in the region through collective efforts by all regional countries.” In fact, Iran has unilaterally supported the Maliki government in Iraq, in much the same way that it has done for the Assad regime in Syria. Iranian Revolutionary Guards’ Quds Force Commander Qassem Suleimani is widely reported as being the most powerful man in Iraq during the current conflict.

IRGC Commander: Iranian regime helps Maliki using methods supporting Assad in Syria

Iran Double Speaks About Iraq

The attempt to court positive public opinion while engaging in damaging policies is not exclusively the domain of President Rouhani. Supreme Leader Khamenei has also attempted to spread Iranian propaganda that seems to very clearly contradict the actual activities of the government. Case in point, Khamenei issued a statement on Sunday that expressed strong opposition to US intervention in Iraq, on the auspices that it would be a violation of Iraqi sovereignty and independence.
