Residents chant in defiance: “No water, no power — and the governor sleeps!”
Sabzevar, Iran — July 22, 2025 — For the second consecutive night, the streets of Sabzevar became the scene of growing unrest, as frustrated residents gathered outside the governor’s office to protest worsening living conditions. Repeated power outages, a deepening water crisis, and continued government indifference have pushed the people to the brink.
Videos shared online show large crowds chanting powerful slogans that reflect their anger and solidarity. Among them:
“No electricity, no water — and the governor sleeps!”
“Don’t be afraid, don’t be afraid — we stand together!”
And when regime forces responded with tear gas, protesters defiantly shouted:
“Shame on you! Shame on you!”
Security forces, including anti-riot units and local police, were dispatched to disperse the demonstrators. Despite the crackdown, citizens held their ground, shouting:
“We’ll claim our rights — only in the streets!”
—a chant that underscores the protesters’ resolve to continue their fight for basic rights and dignity.
The protests in Sabzevar are part of a broader national outcry against systemic neglect, corruption, and the collapse of essential infrastructure. With water reserves reaching record lows and rolling blackouts affecting daily life across the country, public frustration is mounting.
The resilience shown by Sabzevar’s residents once again highlights a powerful message reverberating across Iran: the people will no longer remain silent in the face of oppression and hardship.
