From Tehran and Karaj to Sanandaj and Saqqez, PMOI Resistance Units stage photo campaigns, distribute anti-execution messages, burn nooses, and demand the release of political prisoners and the annulment of death sentences.
The activities included photo campaigns, the distribution of leaflets and banners, the burning of nooses, and the circulation of audio messages expressing solidarity with political prisoners. Participants called for the annulment of death sentences and an end to the use of capital punishment by Iran’s regime.
The actions took place in Tehran, Shiraz, Karaj, Isfahan, Rasht, Kashan, Robat Karim, Eslamshahr, Shahrekord, Chalus, Mahabad, Zahedan, Sanandaj, and Saqqez.
The nationwide campaign also highlighted the cases of political prisoners facing execution, including Amir Hassan Akbari Monfared, Arghavan Fallahi, and imprisoned student Ehsan Faridi.
Nationwide Actions Demand an End to Executions
In Tehran, Resistance Units organized photo campaigns carrying the slogans “Abolition of death sentences in Iran is the Iranian people’s demand” and “The system of gallows and hanging must be dismantled in Iran.” In another action, participants burned a noose while repeating the call for an end to executions and expressing support for the prisoners’ campaign.
In Shiraz, activists displayed messages opposing the execution of political prisoners and declaring that imprisonment, executions, and killings could no longer suppress the demand for freedom.
In Karaj, several actions specifically called for the release of political prisoners and the annulment of death sentences. Photo campaigns and leaflets demanded freedom for Amir Hassan Akbari Monfared and Arghavan Fallahi, while other messages called for the release of all political prisoners and condemned the regime’s use of capital punishment.
One of the slogans declared: “Our response to executions is the red fire of uprising.” Another pledged continued solidarity until death sentences are annulled.
In Isfahan and Kashan, activists burned nooses and displayed anti-execution messages. The Kashan action also commemorated October 10, the World Day Against the Death Penalty. In Rasht, a leaflet declared continued resistance in memory of those killed, while activists in Robat Karim called for freedom and an end to executions.
In Eslamshahr, a slogan emphasized nationwide solidarity, declaring that people from Kurdistan to Tehran stood together against executions. In Shahrekord, a message voiced support for an Iran without executions and invoked the families of victims seeking justice.
Calls for Freedom for Prisoners Facing Execution
The fate of political prisoners facing death sentences was a central focus of the activities in Karaj, Sanandaj, and Saqqez.
In Karaj, Resistance Units demanded the immediate release of Amir Hassan Akbari Monfared and the annulment of his death sentence. They also called for Arghavan Fallahi’s release and the cancellation of her death sentence.
In Sanandaj, leaflets repeated these demands and called for the annulment of the death sentence against imprisoned student Ehsan Faridi. The messages linked the individual cases to the broader campaign against executions and in defense of political prisoners.
In Saqqez, photo campaigns called for the release of Fallahi, Akbari Monfared, and all political prisoners. Participants pledged to continue their efforts until death sentences are abolished.
These actions brought particular attention to prisoners whose cases have become focal points of the wider opposition to capital punishment in Iran.
Audio Messages Express Solidarity With Political Prisoners
In Chalus, an audio message praised political prisoners for their courage and perseverance, emphasizing that their commitment to freedom, justice, and human dignity extended beyond prison walls and repression.
The message expressed hope for an Iran free from authoritarian rule, where no one would become a victim of injustice, and concluded with the call: “No to execution.”
In Mahabad, another audio message condemned death sentences and expressed solidarity with political prisoners who, it said, had placed Iran’s freedom and dignity above their own comfort. It ended with a direct denunciation of the regime’s use of executions.
In Zahedan, activists distributed leaflets carrying the simple but unequivocal slogan “No to execution.”
Resistance Units Support Prisoners’ Continuing Campaign
The actions across 14 cities underscored the reach of the campaign against executions beyond prison walls. While prisoners sustain the No to Execution Tuesdays campaign through their weekly protest, supporters outside prison have continued to publicize their demands and draw attention to death sentences and political imprisonment.
The campaign entered its 142nd week with participation reported across 66 prisons. Its sustained activity has also gained international attention, including the participation of a United Nations special rapporteur in support of the campaign.
The Resistance Units’ latest activities echoed the prisoners’ central demands: abolish death sentences, release political prisoners, and end executions in Iran.
Through public messages, coordinated photo campaigns, and symbolic actions against the gallows, activists sought to reinforce the prisoners’ call for solidarity and ensure that their protest remained visible throughout the country.
The message running through the actions was clear: opposition to executions is inseparable from the demand for freedom and human dignity, and the campaign will continue until death sentences are annulled and political prisoners are freed.
