Zahedan Youth Renew Call to Reject Dictatorship
Young people and Resistance Units in Zahedan have carried out a series of activities reaffirming their rejection of both clerical and monarchical dictatorship and calling for the establishment of a democratic republic in Iran.
During the latest activities, activists displayed banners and placards carrying messages attributed to Iranian Resistance leaders Massoud Rajavi and Maryam Rajavi. The messages emphasized that Iran’s future should not be defined by either religious authoritarianism or a return to monarchical rule, but by freedom, independence, and democratic governance.
Among the slogans displayed were “Neither the Shah nor the Mullah,” “Neither Mullah nor Shah, freedom and a democratic republic,” and “Neither monarchy nor supreme leadership—democracy and equality.”
The activities in Zahedan also featured the slogan “Baluchestan is awake; it detests both Shah and Mullah,” underscoring the activists’ opposition to authoritarian rule and their demand for political change.
Rejecting Both Religious Dictatorship and Monarchical Rule
Several of the banners quoted Maryam Rajavi’s statements rejecting both forms of dictatorship. One message read:
“Iran will remain neither under the rule of religious dictatorship nor return to monarchical dictatorship. Iran’s path is the path of freedom.”
Other displayed messages rejected attempts to exploit the crimes of the current regime to justify a restoration of monarchical rule, while emphasizing that Iran’s struggle for freedom and independence has a long historical continuity.
Another message stated that a political alternative must reject both religious despotism and dependency, opening the way toward genuine freedom and national independence.
The slogans echoed this position in direct terms: “Dictatorship is dictatorship, whether with a turban or a crown,” and “A century of crimes by monarchy and theocracy.”
The message from Zahedan was therefore not simply opposition to the current regime, but a rejection of any attempt to replace one authoritarian system with another.
Resistance Units Highlight Democratic Alternative
The banners also carried messages attributed to Massoud Rajavi concerning the democratic alternative to dictatorship.
One message declared that the remnants of both the Shah and Sheikh are destined to be defeated by Iran’s freedom-seeking and rebellious youth. Another described the anti-dictatorship and anti-dependency front as the people’s front for freedom and independence.
A further message asserted:
“The only way to establish freedom and democracy in Iran is this democratic alternative and the Army of Freedom.”
These messages were accompanied by slogans calling for a decisive break with authoritarian rule, including “Death to the oppressor, whether he is Shah or leader,” and “From Zahedan to Tehran, death to the oppressor, whether he is Shah or leader.”
A Call for Freedom, Equality, and a Democratic Republic
The activities also highlighted the growing emphasis on a political future based on a democratic republic. Banners displayed in Zahedan included:

Taken together, the slogans present a consistent political message: Iran’s future should not be determined by a choice between competing forms of authoritarianism.

Zahedan’s Message Amid Intensifying Repression
The activities come as the Iranian regime continues its campaign of executions and repression against dissent. One of the messages displayed in Zahedan attributed to Maryam Rajavi stated that executions only strengthen the determination of rebellious young people to overthrow the regime.
Other messages stressed the regime’s role in perpetuating instability and rejecting genuine peace, while calling on Iranians to continue their struggle despite repression.
For the young activists in Zahedan, the slogans represent a broader political demand: an end to dictatorship in all its forms and the establishment of a system based on freedom, equality, independence, and democratic representation.
By taking their message into public spaces, the Resistance Units in Zahedan sought to demonstrate that opposition to authoritarianism remains active despite the regime’s repression.
