Twelve detainees accused of links to the opposition face unknown conditions as calls grow for urgent international oversight of Iran regime prisons.

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) has published the names of 12 individuals recently detained by the Iran regime, raising alarm over their fate and the intensifying crackdown on alleged supporters of the opposition.

According to the report, the detainees have been accused of “association and support” for the PMOI—an allegation frequently used by the regime to justify arrests, prolonged detention, and severe punishment of political dissidents. The list has also been submitted to the United Nations Special Rapporteur on human rights in Iran, as well as other international human rights bodies.

Escalating Repression and Reports of Torture

The report highlights a significant escalation in pressure and torture against political prisoners, allegedly carried out under direct orders from Judiciary Chief Gholamhossein Mohseni-Eje’i. Human rights advocates warn that such directives often lead to systematic abuse, including solitary confinement, denial of legal representation, and physical coercion to extract confessions.

The Resistance has stressed the urgent necessity for international intervention, calling for immediate access to detainees by representatives of the UN, the High Commissioner for Human Rights, the Special Rapporteur on Iran, and the Independent International Fact-Finding Mission.

List of Identified Detainees

The individuals named in the report span multiple regions across Iran, indicating a geographically widespread wave of arrests:

  • Sattar Babaei, 57, from Khalkhal — arrested in Rezvanshahr (Gilan Province)
  • Mohsen Deghaghleh, 22, from Ahvaz — arrested in Ahvaz
  • Sobhan Esparvini, 21, from Qazvin — arrested in Qazvin
  • Ali Rajaei, 21, from Najafabad — arrested in Isfahan
  • Ahmad Ghaedi Rahmati, 46, from Tehran — arrested in Tehran
  • Erfan Abbasi-Far, 47, from Kermanshah — arrested in Kermanshah
  • Farzad Fardad, 43, from Kermanshah — arrested in Kermanshah
  • Reza Roshani, 31, from Zarand (Kerman Province) — arrested on the Kerman road
  • Rajabali Chilan, 43, from Bojnord — arrested in Bojnord
  • Abolfazl Mojarradi, 28, from Mashhad — arrested in Mashhad
  • Amir-Mehdi Jalali, 24, from Gorgan — arrested in Gorgan
  • Mohammad Goudarzi, 35, from Parand (Tehran Province) — arrested in Tehran

Unknown Conditions, Growing Concern

The current status and conditions of these detainees remain unknown. No official information has been released regarding their place of detention, legal access, or health condition. This lack of transparency has intensified fears of mistreatment, particularly given the Iran regime’s documented history of abuses against political prisoners.

Human rights organizations have repeatedly warned that detainees accused of links to opposition groups are at heightened risk of torture and enforced disappearance. The absence of independent monitoring further exacerbates these concerns.

Calls for Immediate International Action

The Iranian Resistance has emphasized that silence and inaction by the international community could enable further abuses. It is urging global institutions to take immediate steps to:

  • Secure access to detainees
  • Investigate allegations of torture
  • Hold Iranian officials accountable for human rights violations

As repression intensifies, the fate of these 12 individuals reflects a broader pattern of systemic persecution—one that continues to draw condemnation but demands more decisive international response.
