The conference, attended by the mayor of Sassari, the director of the Amnesty International and its Italian representatives and a delegation from the Iranian Resistance, condemned the Iranian Regime for the massacre and the suppression of women and supported those seeking justice for the victims.

The political-cultural advisor of Sassari’s Mayor, Raffaella Sau, welcomed the Iranian Resistance delegation.

Sau said: “I want to express my gratitude to the Association of the Iranian youths in Italy for holding the conference. I also thank those who resist in order to attract the worldwide attention. I appreciate you for your activities which shape our public opinion against violence and genocide in your country.”

Elahe Arjmandi, a member of the Women’s Commission of NCRI, emphasized that the Iranian Regime still contains nearly 60 people who were instrumental in the murder of 30,000 Iranians. Many of the Regime leaders are still orchestrating mass executions today.

She insisted that they must be investigated and tried in an international court.

At the end of the reference, a statement was read out which condemned the massacre and all participants signed.

There was much debate about the suppression of women under the Regime and their roles in the Resistance.

Dr. Stefania Fusco and Dr. Maria Cristina Carta both discussed the misogynistic laws of the Regime and their suppression of women in general, while Elham Zanjani spoke about the repression of women under the Mullahs’ regime and emphasised that women played a vital role in the overthrow of the Iranian Regime.

The Mayor of Sassari, Nicola Sanna, said: “I congratulate the ladies who participated in this conference since the president of the Iranian Resistance is a woman and this contains a significant concept and message. The women lead the resistance at the national and international levels and they are the actual champions of freedom and democracy.

Sanna continued: “We and our city are on the side of the freedom fighters and the revolutionaries. We welcome the delegation of the Iranian Resistance and we support their struggle for freedom and democracy.”
