On Wednesday, February 3, Iranian citizens held at least six rallies, protesting officials’ failure to resolve their dilemmas. Retirees, workers, stockholders, customers, and citizens organized these rallies.

For the third time in a month, retirees and pensioners of the Social Security Organization held nationwide protests in at least 20 cities. They expressed their disappointment over the regime’s indifference toward their problems and dilemmas.

Rally of Social Security Retirees

Retirees and pensioners affiliated with the Social Security Organization held nationwide protests in at least 18 provinces, reported the Iranian opposition coalition National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI).

“Despite the regime’s repressive measures, this morning, for the second week in a row, a large number of retirees and pensioners living on Social Security gathered in Tehran and 19 other cities to protest the deteriorating living conditions and the skyrocketing prices,” the NCRI stated.

NCRI President-elect Maryam Rajavi saluted the brave retirees who rose up and persisted with their protests and chanted, “Only by taking it to the streets, we can obtain our rights.”

“So long as this regime is in power, poverty, inflation, and unemployment are to get rid Iran of the ruling religious fascism and establish freedom and justice in Iran,” she tweeted.

The February 3 protest was the retirees’ third nationwide protest in the past month. Protesters held their rallies in the provinces of Tehran (Tehran city), Razavi Khorasan (Mashhad and Neyshabur cities), Eastern Azarbaijan (Tabriz city), Fars (Shiraz city), Kermanshah (Kermanshah city), Isfahan (Isfahan city), Markazi (Arak city), Gilan (Rasht city), Yazd (Yazd city), Khuzestan (Ahvaz and Shooshtar cities), Kurdistan (Sanandaj city), Zanjan (Zanjan and Abhar cities), Ardabil (Ardabil city), Lorestan (Khorramabad city), Ilam (Ilam), Alborz (Karaj city), and Mazandaran (Babol city) outside the social security offices.

“We will not give up until we get our rights”, “Employers backed by government officials betray us,” “We ask God to root out the oppressors,” “Expenses are based on the dollar exchange rate, while our salaries are paid in rials,” “Inflation and high prices are destroying people’s lives, down with Rouhani,” “Only by taking to the street, can we obtain our rights,” demonstrators chanted.

Tehran province—ex-workers of the Kaveh Glass Industrial Group in Saveh county, Markazi province, held a rally in Tehran, protesting the company CEO Ebrahim Asgarian’s unfair decision to expel them.

“We workers of Kaveh Glass Industrial Group have been fired by Asgarian after 20 years instead of being made retired. Officials do not hear our voices! Asgarian, shame on you, think about us, where is the justice?” wrote protesters on big placards.

“For two years, we workers of Kaveh Glass Industrial Group from the county of Saveh have been demanding our stolen rights,” workers had written on another placard.

Rally of Tehran Stock Market Shareholders

Tehran province—a group of shareholders held a rally in front of the Bourse Chamber of Tehran. They protested officials for the sharp decline in stock value and the devaluation of their capital. “Death to [President Hassan] Rouhani,” chanted protesters.

Notably, since November 2019, Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and President Hassan Rouhani had encouraged citizens to invest in the Stock Market. However, today, the regime’s factions blame each other to save themselves from public hatred and anger over their horrible economic failures.

Rally of Car Customers

Eastern Azarbaijan province—customers of the Azvico automaker company held their 21st rally in front of the special court for economic offenses.

They protested the company managers’ failure to deliver their pre-purchased cars. Back on January 19, MG360 Car customers rallied in front of the Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade in Tehran. However, officials have yet to follow up customers’ demands.

Eastern Azarbaijan province—after a week of a cut-off of potable water, locals in Ahar county vented their anger over the officials’ inaction and entered the local Governorate.

Kerman province—for the second consecutive day, workers and staff of Baft Petrochemical Plant held a rally in front of the facility.

According to eyewitnesses, around 70 workers demanded officials to remove discrimination and implement the plan for classifying careers.
