The people of Iran continue the nationwide protests against the religious dictatorship for day 25th. The protests were ignited by the so-called morality police’s tragic murder of Mahsa Amini, 22.

Authorities tried to quell public fury with violence and propaganda campaigns. Instead, the mullahs’ bloody crackdowns on Zahedan’s worshippers, Tehran’s Sharif University students, and other Universities galvanized citizens’ determination and solidarity against the dictatorship.

Roundup from Day 24th of Protests

On October 9, the people resumed nationwide demonstrations and strikes across Iran. The Iranian opposition Mojahedin-e Khalq (MEK/PMOI) reported that the protests engulfed at least 177 cities.

The MEK declared that the regime has murdered more than 400 citizens and detained over 20,000 people arbitrarily. This organization has identified and published the names and specifications of 192 slain demonstrators and bystanders.

On day 24th of the protests, students from various universities and schools resumed the demonstrations while authorities even targeted school students with birdshot. They chanted anti-regime slogans, including:

—Death to the dictator;

—[Khamenei] is a disgrace;

—Mullahs must get lost;

—This is the year of [Khamenei’s] overthrow;

In Tehran, defiant protesters blocked several streets and confronted fully-armed security forces. Authorities shot teargas and birdshot to disperse demonstrations; however, the youths resisted and pushed back oppressive forces in several districts.

In Kurdistan, West Azarbaijan, and Kermanshah, west of Iran, citizens set tires ablaze and blocked several streets. Defiant protesters took control of some areas for hours despite security forces’ use of live ammunition. “Baluchi citizens are not alone; Kurdish citizens support them,” protesters chanted in Mahabad.

Furthermore, prisoners launched a riot at the Lakan prison in Rasht, Gilan province. They took several officials, hostage, trying to release themselves. In response, the authorities immediately opened fire and killed four prisoners. The number of victims increased based on some reports.

Remarkably, the Lakan is one of the notorious prisons in north Iran. The regime holds several political prisoners, including those who were detained within recent weeks. In this prison, authorities also implement death penalties against inmates, including women and juvenile offenders.

In an audio message, prisoners humbly called on Rasht citizens to help them and open the prison. Observers compare conquering prisons and releasing inmates, particularly political prisoners, and detained protesters, with France’s “Storming Bastille Prison” in 1789.
