Nationwide Activities Highlight Resistance and Support for Simay-e Azadi
Resistance Units and young activists carried out a new series of activities across Iranian cities on August 13, combining anti-repression actions with a campaign of public support for Simay-e Azadi (IranNTV) and its 30th national fundraising drive.
According to reports from the Iranian Resistance, 30 separate actions were carried out in cities across the country. The activities included attacks against symbols and installations associated with the regime’s security and propaganda apparatus, as well as the burning of regime banners and posters.
At the same time, activists displayed handwritten and printed messages and organized photo actions expressing support for Simay-e Azadi and its fundraising campaign.
The campaign portrayed the television channel as an independent outlet that operates through the financial support of the Iranian people and provides a platform for voices suppressed by the regime’s censorship.
30 Anti-Repression Actions Across Iranian Cities
The reported activities included explosions targeting Basij and regime installations as well as the burning of security and propaganda symbols.
Among the reported actions were:
- Explosions at Basij installations in Isfahan, including three separate Basij centers.
- An explosion at the so-called Imam Khomeini Relief Committee in Shiraz.
- An explosion at a Basij base in Kermanshah.
- The burning of a Basij base in Mashhad using a Molotov cocktail.
- The burning of a Basij student unit in Mashhad.
- The burning of a Basij base in Kermanshah.
- The burning of the city council and an intelligence-related communications organization office in Aligoodarz.
- The burning of a Basij installation targeting students in Sabzevar.
- The burning of a Basij installation in Iranshahr.
Other actions targeted regime propaganda banners and portraits. Reports listed such activities in Tehran, Shahriar, Mashhad, Shiraz, Zahedan, Birjand, Semirom, Aligoodarz, Azna, Khorramabad, and Nikshahr, with activists burning images and banners of regime leaders and officials.
One of the reported activities in Semirom included a banner carrying the slogans “Death to the principle of velayat-e faqih,” “Long live the Army of Freedom,” and “Salute to Rajavi.”
The reported actions represent a combination of attacks on regime symbols and efforts to challenge the pervasive propaganda and repression used to control public space.
Support for Simay-e Azadi and Its 30th Fundraising Campaign
Alongside the anti-repression activities, Resistance Units and young activists conducted a separate nationwide campaign in support of the 30th national fundraising campaign for Simay-e Azadi.
The activists used handwritten and printed leaflets, public displays, and photo actions to express their support for the television channel and its continued operation.
The activities were reported in Tehran, Karaj, Khorramabad, Sari, Kangavar, Amol, Langarud, Zahedan, and Kermanshah.
Messages displayed during the campaign included:
“Simay-e Azadi is the image of rebellious youth.”
“Supporting Simay-e Azadi is part of the struggle for freedom.”
“Supporting Simay-e Azadi means standing alongside the Resistance Units.”
“Simay-e Azadi is the response of the Iranian people to the censorship and repression of colonialism and reaction.”
The activists also described the fundraising campaign as an expression of solidarity with the Resistance Units and the broader struggle for freedom.
From Tehran to Zahedan: A Coordinated Message
In Tehran, activists placed handwritten messages in parks and carried out photo actions featuring printed leaflets supporting Simay-e Azadi and its 30th fundraising campaign.
In Karaj, leaflets described Simay-e Azadi as the “image of rebellious youth,” including displays featuring images of eight executed members of the Iranian Resistance. Other messages described the channel’s fundraising campaign as part of the struggle for freedom and as a means of reflecting the voices of Resistance Units.
In Khorramabad and Sari, activists carried out photo actions with messages supporting Simay-e Azadi and the Resistance.
In Kangavar, messages were placed on a vehicle and in a park, identifying the campaign as an expression of solidarity with local Resistance Units.
In Amol, activists displayed the message: “We wholeheartedly support the Simay-e Azadi fundraising campaign.”
In Langarud, several handwritten messages were displayed, including “Supporting Simay-e Azadi is part of the struggle for freedom.”
In Zahedan, activists carried out a photo action promoting the 30th fundraising campaign and describing Simay-e Azadi as an outlet reflecting the activities of rebellious youth.
Kermanshah Activists: “The Voice of the Voiceless”
The campaign was particularly extensive in Kermanshah, where activists displayed numerous handwritten and printed messages in public spaces and on buses and walls.
The messages described the Simay-e Azadi campaign as a means of standing alongside the Resistance Units and as a step toward freedom.
One message characterized Simay-e Azadi as “the voice of the voiceless” and “the voice of the deprived people.”
Other messages emphasized self-reliance, including the slogan “No one scratches our backs but ourselves,” expressing the idea that the Iranian Resistance depends on the support of the Iranian people rather than governments or foreign powers.
An Independent Voice Against Censorship
The activities surrounding the Simay-e Azadi fundraising campaign also underscore the channel’s stated model of financial independence.
Unlike state-controlled Iranian media, which operates under the regime’s censorship and political control, Simay-e Azadi presents itself as an independent television channel sustained by contributions from its viewers and supporters.
The slogans displayed during the nationwide activities repeatedly connected support for the channel with opposition to censorship and repression. The message was particularly explicit in the phrase: “Simay-e Azadi is the response of the Iranian people to the censorship and repression of colonialism and reaction.”
For the Resistance Units, supporting the channel is therefore presented not merely as a financial contribution, but as part of a broader political and communications struggle: maintaining an independent platform capable of reporting on protests, resistance activities, repression, and developments inside Iran.
A Campaign Linking Resistance With Independent Media
The August 13 activities brought together two elements of the Iranian Resistance’s campaign: direct challenges to symbols and institutions of repression, and support for an independent media outlet.
