On September 6, 2025, tens of thousands of Iranians and international dignitaries gathered in Brussels for the Free Iran Rally, marking the 60th anniversary of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) and honoring the Iranian people’s unwavering resistance against dictatorship, both under the Shah and the ruling clerics.

Maryam Rajavi: “The Shah fell, and the mullahs will fall as well”

Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), said:
“Sixty years have passed. Fourteen years under the Shah’s dictatorship, and forty-six years under the religious dictatorship. Sixty years, without a single day or even an hour of pause.”

She stressed the continuity of resistance:
“The Shah fell, and the mullahs will fall as well.”

Rajavi underlined the NCRI’s democratic alternative and Ten-Point Plan, emphasizing:
“The answer to the Iranian crisis is the overthrow of the entire religious tyranny. The people of Iran are more prepared than ever!”

Mike Pence: “There is an alternative”

Former U.S. Vice President Mike Pence recalled his 2022 visit to Ashraf 3:
“One of the biggest lies the ruling regime sold to the wider world is that there is no alternative to the status quo. But you all know there is an alternative, well-organized, fully prepared, perfectly qualified.”

He also warned:
“The regime in Tehran wants to trick the world into believing that the Iranian protesters want to return to the dictatorship of the Shah as well. But we are not confused by their lies.”

Alejo Vidal-Quadras: “You are the heartbeat of a nation”

Former European Parliament Vice President Alejo Vidal-Quadras, who survived an assassination attempt by agents of the Iranian regime, praised the Resistance:
“The future of Iran is not a dream. It is standing before us right now. You are the voice of millions of Iranians. You are the heartbeat of a nation.”

He rejected monarchist propaganda:
“A vast majority of Iranians do not want to replace a criminal, corrupt, and terrorist regime by a crown dictatorship that has nothing to offer to the Iranian society but its selfish ambition.”

He pledged unwavering support:
“Yes, my friends, I pledge to you that I will stay as a proud soldier in your ranks, under your banner led by our President, Maryam Rajavi, all the way to a free Iran.”

Guy Verhofstadt: “The alternative is here”

Former Belgian Prime Minister and European Parliament leader Guy Verhofstadt praised the NCRI as the democratic alternative:
“The alternative is here, embodied by the NCRI, which stands for democracy, equality, and human rights. Europe must open its eyes and recognize this reality.”

John Bercow: “The people of Iran yearn for freedom”

Former UK House of Commons Speaker John Bercow expressed solidarity:
“The people of Iran yearn for freedom, democracy, and justice. The international community must stand with them and with this movement that represents their aspirations.”

Patrick Kennedy: “This is a referendum for democracy”

Former U.S. Congressman Patrick Kennedy described the rally as a living vote for freedom:
“Your presence here is a referendum for democracy. It shows that the Iranian Resistance is alive, determined, and unstoppable.”

A Unified Call for Change

Speakers from across the U.S. and Europe emphasized that the Iranian Resistance, led by the NCRI and MEK, represents the only viable democratic alternative to dictatorship in Iran.

As Maryam Rajavi concluded, the message of the day was clear:
“The time for uprising and rebellion has arrived. You will liberate Iran. You will achieve victory and build the future. It can be done—and it must be done!”
