This protest gathering by the families of political prisoners began at around 10 a.m. local time on April 19 in front of Tehran’s Public Prosecutor’s Office in the bazaar district.

Families used placards to show their protest to this barbaric raid. As there are a large number of regime’s forces, in particular plainclothes agents, around this gathering, there is a chance for an attack on the families and their arrest at any time as has been the case before.

As already published on Iran News Update website, in the raid on Thursday, April 17, by the revolutionary guards on Evin Prison, a number of the prisoners were badly injured with severe bleeding and broken bones. Some prisoners are in critical condition. Prison guards also smashed all of the belongings of the prisoners and took with them prisoners’ handwritten papers.

Other prisoners who were in the prison yard and who had begun chanting slogans against the prison officials and the Iranian government in protest to the raid were also severely beaten up. In this barbaric raid, 31 prisoners were transferred to solitary confinement in Ward 240 of Evin Prison.
