PMOI Resistance Units in Zahedan display messages rejecting both clerical and monarchical dictatorship while calling for the overthrow of Iran’s religious dictatorship and a democratic republic.

On Friday, October 2, 2026, Resistance Units and rebellious youths in Zahedan carried out a new campaign of banners and placards conveying messages against Iran’s ruling religious dictatorship and rejecting any return to monarchical rule. The activities highlighted the slogan “No Shah, No Mullahs” and called for freedom and a democratic republic in Iran. The activities were reported by Iranian Resistance media on the same day.

The latest campaign comes as Resistance Units in Zahedan have repeatedly used public messages to reject both forms of dictatorship and emphasize a political alternative based on freedom and a democratic republic. Similar activities in the city in recent months have featured the same “No Shah, No Mullahs” message.

Zahedan: “No Shah, No Mullahs”

Among the messages displayed by the Resistance Units was a statement attributed to PMOI leader Massoud Rajavi emphasizing that the principle of “No Shah, No Mullahs” means rejecting both dictatorship and foreign dependence.

Other placards conveyed messages attributed to Rajavi about the role of rebellious youths, insurgent cities, and organized resistance in confronting the ruling regime. The messages also rejected the restoration of the monarchy, arguing that Iran’s struggle is directed against dictatorship in all its forms.

One of the central slogans displayed in Zahedan declared:

“From Zahedan to Tehran, death to the oppressor, whether Shah or Supreme Leader.”

Other slogans included:

  • “A dictatorship is a dictatorship, whether with a turban or a crown.”
  • “We want neither Shah nor mullahs; curse the dictators.”
  • “Curse of the people and history on the bloodstained Mullah and Shah.”
  • “Monarchy and theocracy—one hundred years of crimes.”
  • “No Sheikh, No Shah—freedom and a democratic republic.”

These slogans place the Zahedan activities within a broader Resistance Units campaign that has repeatedly presented the rejection of both monarchy and clerical rule as a central political message. In September, similar banners in Zahedan explicitly called for “freedom and a democratic republic” while rejecting both Shah and mullahs.

Messages from Maryam Rajavi

The placards also carried messages attributed to NCRI President-elect Maryam Rajavi concerning the role of the Resistance Units and younger generations in Iran’s struggle for change.

The messages emphasized that Resistance Units and rebellious youths have chosen confrontation with the religious dictatorship, while political prisoners continue their resistance inside Iran’s prisons.

Rajavi’s messages also stressed that the solution to Iran’s crisis lies in democratic change by the Iranian people and their organized resistance, rather than in the preservation or restoration of dictatorship.

One of the messages stated that the answer to the Iran crisis is the overthrow of the entirety of the religious dictatorship. Another described Resistance Units and the younger generation as challenging both dictatorship and dependency, whether represented by the Shah or the clerical regime.

The repeated emphasis on a democratic republic is consistent with the messaging seen in previous Resistance Units campaigns in Zahedan and elsewhere across Iran.

Resistance Continues in a City Marked by Bloody Friday

Zahedan has particular significance in Iran’s protest movement. The city became a major center of resistance during the 2022 nationwide uprising, including the September 30, 2022 crackdown known as Bloody Friday.

Resistance Units have continued activities in Zahedan in the years since, including commemorations of the victims of Bloody Friday and campaigns opposing the ruling dictatorship. On September 25, Resistance Units in the city again marked both the anniversary of Bloody Friday and the September 2022 uprising.

The latest October 2 campaign therefore comes amid continued Resistance Units activity in the city and across Sistan and Baluchestan. On September 30, Resistance Units reportedly carried out 40 actions in 23 Iranian cities commemorating the victims of Zahedan’s Bloody Friday.

A Message Against All Forms of Dictatorship

The Zahedan campaign sends a consistent political message: opposition to Iran’s religious dictatorship does not mean support for a return to monarchy.

Through banners and placards, the Resistance Units are presenting “No Shah, No Mullahs” as a rejection of both forms of authoritarian rule and coupling it with a call for freedom and a democratic republic.

From Zahedan to other Iranian cities, these activities continue to project the Resistance’s stated vision of an Iran free from both theocracy and monarchy, with political change determined by the Iranian people.
