The Iranian regime judiciary has sentenced political prisoner Manouchehr Fallah to death. The verdict was issued by Judge Mohammad Ali Darvish Goftar in the Revolutionary Court of Rasht. Fallah was convicted on charges of “enmity against God (Moharebeh) through actions against the security of the regime.” He is currently imprisoned in Lakan Prison, Rasht, and was denied legal representation throughout the judicial process.

A Flawed Trial and Denial of Rights

Manouchehr Fallah, 40, was tried via videoconference on December 11, 2024. He faced accusations of damaging buildings belonging to the IRGC Intelligence and the Gilan Judiciary. However, the legal proceedings have been widely criticized for their lack of due process, including the denial of access to a defense lawyer.

Arrest and Fabrication of New Charges

Fallah was initially arrested on July 1, 2023, by security forces at Rasht Airport. He was originally sentenced to 15 months in prison by Branch 3 of the Revolutionary Court in Rasht, presided over by Judge Mehdi Rasekhi, on charges of insulting Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and spreading propaganda against the regime. Despite completing his sentence, authorities opened a new case against him while he remained in custody, ultimately leading to his death sentence.

Call for International Intervention

The Iranian Resistance has called on the United Nations, its member states, and the European Union to take urgent action to overturn Manouchehr Fallah’s death sentence and secure the release of all political prisoners in Iran. Human rights organizations are also urging increased international pressure on the Iranian government to halt executions and respect fundamental human rights.

As Iran’s regime continues its crackdown on political dissent, the case of Manouchehr Fallah highlights ongoing human rights violations and the urgent need for global intervention to prevent further injustices.
