NCRI – Iranians living in France will hold rallies in protest at the visit of Javad Zarif, the Foreign Minister of the mullahs’ regime, to UNESCO’s General Conference in France on November 5 and 6.

The visit takes place at a time when human rights abuses are increasing at an alarming rate in Iran and more than 300 people have been executed – one every seven hours – since the election of Hassan Rouhani.

In violation of stated goals of UNESCO, the clerical regime has enchained Iranian culture on all sides and has imposed censorship and repression on the Iranian people. That includes imprisoning artists and authors, banning musical instruments on television, censoring the Internet and the use of satellite TVs, to banning women from 70 educational fields in universities.

The statement issued by organizers of the protest said participants will warn that “ignoring the nature and conduct of the clerical regime and pandering to the facade of moderation by Rouhani and his representative Zarif, would embolden the regime in suppressing freedom and destroying culture inside Iran.”

“It would also provide the regime with a free reign in meddling in other countries, in particular Syria and would provide it with more time to obtain nuclear weapons and would lead to an unprecedented global crisis,” the statement said.

Date and Time: November 5 and 6 from 12 to 14

Venue: Vis-à-vis du 125 avenue de Suffren, 75007 Paris UNESCO
